Caribbean Premier League – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

The second leg of the Florida Swing in the Caribbean Premier League takes place on Friday night when the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots take on the Trinbago Knight Riders for the first time this season.

The Patriots have nothing to lose in this USA series as they are already out of the competition but things are pretty important for the Trinbago Knight Riders. They can secure a playoff spot if they win either of their last two matches but they won’t want it to go right down to the wire.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

This season just hasn’t got going for the Patriots. They have yet to really fire with the bat and their much talked up attack hasn’t delivered the goods when they have been in the field. In recent matches they have looked like a side who don’t really want to be on the field and when that mindset sets in you have a problem.

Hopefully from their point of view a change of surroundings does the trick. The whole idea is to promote the game in this USA leg so they can release the shackles and show off their egos and individual skills and that should be just the ticket.

Trinbago Knight Riders

Trinbago head to Florida with their heads up after they stopped the St Lucia Zouks getting a home clean sweep in their previous match. To beat them was always going to be a good achievement but to beat them without Hashim Amla was even more creditable.

Hashim Amla is on his way back to Miami to take part this weekend but whether he gets there in time for this one remains to be seen. Brendon McCullum hasn’t got going in this tournament yet but this track looks like one which he can trust and it would be no surprise to see some fireworks from him.

Betting

Based on what we’ve seen so far in the tournament you would have to be a pretty staunch St Kitts and Nevis fan to suggest they can get anything out of this match but at the same time I’m not sure I would be wanting to be taking a very short price on Trinbago so I’ll head to the side markets for a bet on this one.

The side market in question is the boundaries where a line of 31.5 looks a shade low for these two. The Patriots can play with freedom and with the power they have in their batting line up that should yield some boundaries while Trinbago have some of the best batsmen in the world in their ranks and no shortage of power.

The boundaries looked pretty short in the opening match here on Thursday and with each match likely to move around the square a little bit to ensure the six matches get played on acceptable tracks we might have an even shorter boundary somewhere here. That all adds up to us getting 32 boundaries and potentially plenty more.
