The Caribbean Premier League returns after a night off on Thursday night as the CPL season hits Guyana for the first time this year. The match in question sees the Guyana Amazon Warriors taking on the Jamaica Tallawahs in a big game for both sides.
Jamaica can put good distance between themselves and the chasing pack in the race for play-off spots while Guyana have a four match spell which could see them fly up the table if they get some early momentum going.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
I said before their last match that I thought the record and league position of the Guyana Amazon Warriors was a false one and they duly proved me right as they beat the St Lucia Stars to get off the mark. They will now be looking to build on that first win and really catapult themselves up the table knowing full well they have got their matches against St Kitts out of the way.
Home advantage is always a big thing in this tournament but especially here where the wicket often turns and I expect the Amazon Warriors to take full advantage of that even allowing for the fact that this is a franchise tournament with little time to prepare. Guyana look to have the ideal attack for this wicket.
Jamaica Tallawahs
The Tallawahs head into this match off the back of a win over the St Lucia Stars last time out but they were touch and go in that one for a long time. Winning always breeds confidence and sometimes when unlikely heroes get a side over the line it means a lot more to them than when it is conventional.
The defending champions will be looking to build on that as they chase a spot in the top two for when the postseason begins. It should in theory be easier to defend their title from there so with their home leg of the tournament to come that has to be their aim. Their batting may need to improve for that to happen.
Team News
Given that both sides go into this match off the back of fine wins it is hard to see either making too many changes. Jamaica may look to bring another spinner into their ranks but that might be about it. Both sides have been largely settled so far in the tournament since Martin Guptill returned for the home side.

Betting
I like a couple of bets in this match. The first one is on the home side to win. I really believe their home form is likely to stand up to most in this tournament with their plethora of spin options and the wicket will probably suit their batsmen much more too.
We just saw Jamaica Tallawahs almost make a pig’s ear of things with the bat against St Lucia last time out and they could well struggle with the willow here. I will back Rashid Khan, Veerasammy Permaul and co to lead the Guyana Amazon Warriors to a win here.
I also think the aforementioned Rashid Khan is a big price to be the man of the match. He bowled a spell of 4-0-9-2 earlier in the tournament and conditions here should suit him much better than anywhere else. I would not be surprised if he bowls another fantastic spell which delivers the MOM prize.
