The final of the CSA T20 Challenge takes place on Sunday when the pre-tournament favourites Titans take on the slightly surprise package of Boland Rocks for the domestic T20 title over in Port Elizabeth. Whoever wins this match will follow the Knights as the new winners.
Both these teams came through their semi-finals with plenty in hand so they will be confident going into this final, which should lead to a decent conclusion to what has been a good tournament in the circumstances. The final is like on Free Sports in the UK.
Titans
After dropping their opening match of the tournament the Titans have progressed through this event like a procession. They have now won their last seven matches including their semi-final and they haven’t really been in trouble of any of those contests. They had their semi-final won inside the first 10 overs of their bowling innings and look to be getting stronger. I guess the one question over them will how they be if they are put under pressure but they need to be put in that situation first.
The Titans have been especially good with the ball in this competition. That isn’t a surprise when you consider at least four members of their regular bowling attack are international cricketers. They haven’t been as consistent or at their best with the bat in this event but you would expect that to be the case when you consider that the pitches are completely different to the ones they are used to playing on and have tired as the tournament have gone on.

Boland Rocks
The Boland Rocks started the tournament with two defeats in their opening two matches so they did particularly well to make it through to the last four from such an indifferent beginning. The only other match they have lost in the competition was their last regular season match but their semi-final spot was already confirmed by then, although they should still have won that match when they failed to chase a score down despite only losing two wickets.
The Rocks have probably been better with the bat than the ball overall in this competition, although when the pitches have tired their multiple spin options have started to come to the party a little more. That might be significant here, although you would imagine a wicket has been saved for the final so that the competition can be played to a close on the best conditions it can so that might lessen in the impact of the spinners.
Betting
The longer the competition has gone on the better the Titans have got. They have the best balance to their team and if we are being honest about it they have the best side man for man as well and I expect them to be very tough to beat here. This is T20 cricket so one of the Malan brothers could have a day out to give the Boland Rocks a chance, but getting after this strong Titans attack isn’t going to be easy regardless of the conditions.
Titans can win this match with the bat or with the ball. They have the likes of Quinton de Kock, Theunis de Bruyn and Heinrich Klaasen with the bat and then there is Lizaad Williams, Junior Dala, Tabraiz Shamsi and Aaron Phangiso with the ball. Why that is significant is because they are all internationals so you wouldn’t expect them to allow the pressure of a final to get to them. I think the Titans win here and I think they cover the handicap too.
