Czech Darts Open 2022 – Last 32 Tips and Betting Preview

The Czech Darts Open sees the seeded players entering the competition on Saturday when the last 32 of the tournament takes place over the course of two sessions out in Prague as we play down to the 16 men who will compete in the final day of the event.

Peter Wright has sat this one out which means that we will see the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton taking centre stage in the action on Saturday. There are some good matches to enjoy over the course of the day.

Afternoon Session

The action begins with the popular and entertaining Ricky Evans looking to get the better of the Polish number one Krzysztof Ratajski before we have a battle of Northern Ireland when Brendan Dolan takes on Mickey Mansell. Luke Humphries and Martin Lukeman met in the final of the second European Tour event of the season and they face each other in the last 32 here before we get taken to the interval by Rob Cross and the American newcomer Jules van Dongen.

It is unusual to have the tie of the round taking place in the afternoon but that is what we have here when Dimitri Van den Bergh meets Nathan Aspinall before Jose de Sousa goes up against Martijn Kleermaker. Two more great ties finish off the afternoon session with Daryl Gurney and Dave Chisnall meeting in a wonderful clash before the form horse Michael Smith meets the Austrian star Rowby-John Rodriguez.

Evening Session

We get underway in the evening session with one of the three home players on show over the course of the night taking to the stage when Adam Gawlas meets Damon Heta. Martin Schindler goes up against Vincent van der Voort in the second match of the night before Dirk van Duijvenbode takes on the second Czech star to compete on Saturday in Karel Sedlacek. We are taken to the break with the Premier League leader Jonny Clayton who meets Jose Justicia.

Michael van Gerwen will bring us out of the interval on Saturday evening when he takes on the final home ace to take to the stage in Vitezslav Sedlak. The tie of the evening session cones in the third to last game when Gerwyn Price meets the former world champion Adrian Lewis before we finish off with Joe Cullen playing Ross Smith and the heavy scoring Ryan Searle going up against an underrated Ritchie Edhouse.

Betting

I’ll go with one bet over the course of the day where Ritchie Edhouse might just be overpriced to see off Ryan Searle in the final match of the evening session. These two met in the first European Tour event of the season and Edhouse came out on top and while I wouldn’t make him favourite to win this contest or anything like that, I do think he is overpriced against a Searle who is undoubtedly a class act, but who can often take a match or two to warm up on the outer ring.

Generally Searle gets better the longer he is in a tournament and I wonder if that is what he’ll do here. Interestingly he didn’t go to the Players Championship events in midweek whereas Edhouse did and made the quarter final of one where he took care of Kim Huybrechts with a 101.18 average and then in the second one he got to the last 32 where his 100.40 average was no answer to Michael Smith who won in a deciding leg. Edhouse has the scoring consistency to go with Searle in this match and if the higher ranked player misses some doubles he could be the victim of a shock here.
