The third day of Euro 2020 qualifying action in the latest international break takes place on Saturday with three kick off times forming a decent looking schedule, as we head into the second half of the group stages.
England are the standout attraction over the course of the afternoon in terms of those of us in the UK while elsewhere the world champions France continue their campaign as do the defending European champions Portugal.
Group A
The first game to kick off on the day comes from this group and it does so where Kosovo look to continue their progress on this scene when they take on a Czech Republic side who are nothing like the one which has graced this competition in tournaments past. The other match in this section sees England in action. They take on a Bulgaria side who could well be a sitting duck at Wembley Stadium based on results thus far.
Group B
This one was seen as the Group of Death entering qualifying and we are set for a fascinating second half of it when it begins next week. Before then though there are a couple of matches in the section with the big one being the later one to start when Serbia host Portugal in a good looking game. The other match in the group begins slightly earlier and sees runaway leaders Ukraine looking to pick up another three points away to Lithuania.
Group H
All six sides are in action in Group H on Saturday with France, Turkey and Iceland all heading into the day on nine points. None of the three teams play each other on Saturday, with all three at home to the minnows in the group. In the earlier kick off Iceland play host to Moldova while the other two matches see France probably having the stiffest test of the three against Albania. Turkey take on Andorra in the other match.
Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the day with the first one coming in the form of the England match where I think England to win and there to be more than 3.5 goals in the match looks a good way to play the game. Bulgaria shipped three to Kosovo last time out but to be fair to them they have scored in all four matches in this group phase so there is a chance that they find the back of the net here. Even if they don’t, England can easily win this 4-0 or better. England have some really dynamic attacking players at present and goals in plenty of areas of the side. A draw isn’t really any good for Bulgaria after successive losses in the campaign so they can’t exactly park the bus. This should be open and England should win a high scoring match.
Another side who can come through quite comfortably are Iceland. They might not be the most free scoring side in the world but this is a Moldova side that leaked a couple of goals to Albania recently. Moldova have only scored one goal in their last eight away matches which came in a 1-0 win in San Marino so I’m not expecting them to find the net here. Iceland know that this is going to be a bun fight for the qualifying places and they can’t afford to slip up against any of the three lesser sides in the section. They also know that if they are going to get through their goal difference needs a boost. It can get it here.
