Euro 2020 Qualifying – Tuesday 26th March Matches Betting Preview

The final night of the first international week of Euro 2020 qualifiers takes place on Tuesday when those groups which got up and running on Saturday are in action for a second time. Nations who started well will be looking to consolidate that start while those less fortunate will be eager to get their campaigns firing.

From a home point of view it is the second night of qualifying for the Republic of Ireland while the wider attraction will be on Italy and Spai, who will be going in search of a second win to set themselves up for what is to come.

Group D

Two sides who had decent World Cups in Russia last summer do battle in the main match in this group on Tuesday evening when Switzerland look to build on their emphatic win over Georgia as they host a Denmark side getting started in their campaign. The other match sees Republic of Ireland taking on Georgia in another huge clash for Mick McCarthy’s men if they are to push for qualification for the main event.

Group F

There are three matches in this group over the course of the night on Tuesday. One of them is a battle of Scandinavia as Norway play host to Sweden while Spain and Romania get to take on the two weaker sides in the section. Spain make the trip to Malta while Romania host a Faroe Islands who will be looking to cause an upset to an established side at some point in this qualifying campaign.

Group J

The other group on action on Tuesday evening sees Italy looking to build on their winning start when they take on Liechtenstein in a match they should be winning quite convincingly you would think. Elsewhere Finland face a potentially tricky trip to Armenia in the only early kick off on the evening and the final match sees Bosnia-Herzegovina looking to stamp their authority on second place when they host a disappointing Greece outfit.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets on Tuesday, hopefully getting a pair of winners like on Monday night. The first of those comes in the form of Georgia. This one is probably as much a fade on Republic of Ireland as it is backed the Georgians. To put it simply Republic of Ireland just don’t score enough goals for comfort and the fact they could only break the resistance of Gibraltar once doesn’t really say a lot for them. Georgia might come out at them a little more here but it will still be a packed defence for the Irish to have to break down. We can get even money on the Georgians with a +0.75 goal start on the Asian handicap and given that a vastly better Switzerland side could only win by two against them I wouldn’t be backing Ireland to do likewise. I’ll take the Georgians with that start.

Speaking of Switzerland they look to be improving as a side and the Nations League semi-finalists can get a positive result when they play host to Denmark on Tuesday night. I try not to take too much from friendly results but it can’t be good that Kosovo found the bet twice against the Danes last week so I’m expecting Switzerland to enjoy themselves in attacking areas. You sense Denmark might not do the same though against a Swiss side with a reputation for being tight to break down. There is enough draw cover on the Swiss here for me to take them on the Asian lines.
