Three more groups conclude at the Euro 2024 qualifying competition on Monday night on an evening where some household names in the European Championship will aim to secure their qualification for the event in Germany next summer.
Among those teams are the defending champions Italy and the former finalists of the tournament in the Czech Republic, while we also get to see teams such as England and Denmark concluding their campaigns.
Group C
We already know that England will top the group but they will be looking for three points from their trip to North Macedonia so that they give themselves the best chance of an easier draw come the finals. The big game in this group comes from Leverkusen where Ukraine take on Italy in a winner takes all clash. Ukraine know that they are in the finals should they beat Italy while the defending champions will be looking to avoid defeat to secure automatic qualification and not have to go through the play-offs which went so disastrously wrong for them for the World Cup.
Group E
Albania have already qualified from Group E and they will look to secure top spot in the section. They conclude their campaign at home to the Faroe Islands knowing that a win will confirm top spot. There are scenarios where they finish top even if they don’t win. The big match though is the one between the Czech Republic and Moldova where the winner will qualify for the latter stages of the competition. Czech Republic qualify with a draw whereas Moldova must win. Should the Czechs win and Albania lose it will be the 1996 finalists who top the group.

Group H
We already know that Denmark have qualified for another tilt at the title that they won in 1992 and if they avoid defeat away to Northern Ireland in their final match then they will win the group. The big match is the one between Slovenia and Kazakhstan which is another winner takes all match. Slovenia need just a draw to make it through to the finals while Kazakhstan, who already have a play-off place assured, will qualify with a win. The other match sees San Marino hosting a Finland side who already have their minds on the play-offs.
Betting
This should be a really good night of qualifying action and goals certainly shouldn’t be short in supply given that each group has a match where the winner takes all and therefore the first goal in those games completely changes the dynamic of the night. One of those games is the one between Ukraine and Italy where I am expecting to see over 2.5 goals as a result of the situation, as the first goal will see the conceding team having to completely change tactics to get what they need.
If Italy get the first goal in this game then Ukraine are going to need to take some real risks to try and find the two goals they will need to make it through to the finals whereas a Ukraine goal is going to see Italy needing to score and they might need to take risks in order to do that. We often get situations like this which we can take advantage of and I think this is very much one of those occasions. I like over 2.5 goals at a perfectly fair price.
