EURO2016 – Poland Team Preview – Group C

Poland Team Preview – Overview

This is the third time in succession that Poland have taken part in this tournament. They qualified by right in 2008 and then made it in courtesy of being the co-hosts four years ago but they are still looking to come out of the group for the first time so that will be their very first aim in this tournament.

There is a lot to like about this Polish squad. Prior to the warm up matches only Germany have beaten them in the last two years and there isn’t much shame in that. Poland have a number of goalkeeping options and in Robert Lewandowski they have a leading marksman. That is generally a competition when can take a side a long way in these major tournaments.

Betting

There aren’t many markets out about Poland in their group which is fine with me because I wouldn’t be getting involved in any of them anyway given how strong the group is but I’m going to take on Robert Lewandowski in their top goalscorer market.

Don’t get me wrong Lewandowski should win this market doing cartwheels but I suspect he is going to get a lot of attention from opposition coaches and defences and that could create space for others to take advantage.

One of those players is the Ajax forward Arkadiusz Milik who goes into this tournament off the back of a fine season for his club and who carries plenty of danger to opposing teams. Lewandowski should land this market but at 8/11 I prefer to look elsewhere and that is on Milik at a much more attractive 6/1 should the Bayern Munich striker be marked out of the game.
