FIFA World Cup 2022 European Qualifiers – Saturday 27th Match Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The European matches in the qualifying campaign for the FIFA World Cup 2022 continue over the course of a fairly busy Saturday in which four of the groups play their second match of the three in this international window.

Those teams who got off to a winning start in their opening match earlier in the week will be aiming to consolidate that position whereas the teams who were not fortunate enough to win their first game will be eager to get a victory on the board here.

Group A

Two matches take place from Group A over the course of Saturday with all eyes likely to be on Portugal to see if they follow up their narrow win over Azerbaijan in their first game. They face much stiffer competition in the form of Serbia who also have a win on the board after beating Republic of Ireland in their opener. That means Ireland will be determined to get off the mark for the group when they host Luxembourg in the other game in this section on Saturday evening.

Group E

The Czech Republic and Belgium were both winners in the opening round of action on Wednesday evening and they face each other in the second game on Saturday night. The Czechs emphatically took care of Estonia while Belgium got the better of Wales so whoever wins their match will move to the top of the group. Belarus host Estonia in the other match with the visitors needing to bounce back quickly from that heavy loss on Wednesday.

Group G

There is plenty of action in this group on Saturday as all six teams take to the pitch. The first match to kick off sees Montenegro looking to build on their opening win over Latvia when they host minnows Gibraltar. When they are done two of the improving sides in European football get to work as Norway entertain a Turkey team who kicked off their campaign with a fine win over the Netherlands earlier in the week while the last game sees the aforementioned Dutch outfit hosting Latvia in a match which should be perfect for them to respond to that loss with.

Group H

The other group on show on Saturday also has three matches taking place in it. There is an early kick off as the 2018 hosts Russia will be looking for a second straight win in the group when they host Slovenia who also won their opening match. Beaten finalists in 2018, Croatia, will be expecting to get their first win on the board in the group when they host a poor Cyprus side. The late game in this section sees Slovakia taking on the other minnows Malta in what should be a home win.

Betting

I’ll go with just the one over the course of these matches on Saturday and that comes in the match where Republic of Ireland take on Luxembourg in Dublin. If this match took place 5-10 years ago you would have no issues with a Republic of Ireland win and a comfortable one at that but Luxembourg are a lot more competitive these days and certainly not the minnows they once were but having got themselves in a position to win their Nations League group with three wins in their first four, a loss to Cyprus set them back a bit.

Luxembourg also lost in a friendly to Qatar on Wednesday evening which won’t do their confidence much good but in all their defeats they are competitive and I expect that to be the way this one goes. Ireland finally scored goals in their last match which will be a huge boost to them and while they still lost to Serbia, their defence isn’t likely to be under quite as much pressure here. We are kidding ourselves if we think Ireland are suddenly going to turn into a free scoring team but there was enough in that battle in Serbia to suggest they have enough in them to win this albeit with under 3.5 goals.
