French Open Tennis 2024 – Men’s Semi-Finals Tips and Betting Preview

We are guaranteed a new winner of the French Open on the men’s side of the competition and on Friday we will find out which two men will compete in the final on Sunday when the semi-finals are played on the Philippe Chatrier Court at Roland Garros.

We have four stars of the game who have made it through to the last four but none of them have got their hands on this title yet. Two of the men on show have Grand Slams under their belt while two will be looking to set up a shot at a first one.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner

The opening semi-final sees the two best young stars on the tennis scene going at it when the holders of the Wimbledon and Australian Open titles meet when Carlos Alcaraz goes up against Jannik Sinner in what should be a blockbuster contest.

These two men are the favourites to land the title. Alcaraz is two wins away from three legs of the Grand Slam while Sinner needs a couple of wins to keep the calendar slam alive. Both men have made it to this stage for the loss of just one set so form wise there isn’t a great deal between these two. Alcaraz is seen as the better player on clay but Sinner has had some good results on the surface so this one is likely to be settled by fine margins. I wouldn’t want to pick a winner for certain but I would probably edge towards the better all-round game of Alcaraz but Sinner isn’t going to be the world number one on Monday for no reason. There isn’t really enough margin in the game for me to part with my money. This should be a cracker but it is one to watch for me.

Casper Ruud vs Alexander Zverev

The second semi-final sees two of the best clay court players in the world on show as the finalist of the last two years, Casper Ruud, goes up against the impressive Alexander Zverev who will be looking to put the memories of his injury in the semi-final here two years ago behind him.

Ruud has probably had the better route to this semi-final as his quarter final opponent Novak Djokovic pulled out before they met so the Norwegian should be fresh as a daisy which after a couple of lengthy battles earlier in the week will be no bad thing. Zverev hasn’t had that luxury although he did manage to get his quarter final done in straight sets and didn’t show many signs of tiredness in that match although he was serving more double faults which makes you wonder if there was some fatigue growing in the legs. De Minaur created chances against Zverev in that match but never took them but the difference here is Ruud has the power to hit through the German so I expect this one to be a lot closer than Zverev’s last match. These two met in the semi-final last year and Ruud won for the loss of just seven games. I expect this to be much closer than that to the extent that over 39.5 games feels the bet. Both men have already gone five sets this week and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some tiebreaks in this one. I’m expecting lengthy sets and plenty of games. I like the over here.
