It is the middle night of matches in Group C of the Gold Cup on Friday night with the action remaining in Texas but moving to Houston for two more potentially key games in the competition.
This was the group which always felt the tightest going into it and it is the one with the interesting dynamic in that the two big guns met in the first game which gave one of the lesser sides a head start.
El Salvador vs Jamaica (00.00)
The first game of the night sees the two teams who won their opening match battling it out to put themselves within touching distance of a place in the quarter final when El Salvador take on finalists of the last two Gold Cup’s in Jamaica.
This is a big match for both sides and I hope they don’t look to cancel each other out with the draw ensuring they will both be in control of their own destiny heading into the last game in the group. If that doesn’t happen I expect Jamaica to win this. I wasn’t massively impressed with El Salvador in their opening game. It might have been the pressure of expecting to win but even so they will need to show a lot more here.
Jamaica only just got over the line against Honduras in the end but they dominated the game in going 3-1 up. If they play with the same purpose here they should get the job done but I am mindful of that settling for a draw scenario so I’ll take them with some draw cover.

Honduras vs Curacao (02.30)
The second match of the night is big for both Honduras and Curacao as they each head into it knowing if they are beaten in this match their race is likely to be run for the tournament so the stakes are enormously high here.
I’ve got to say I was very disappointed with Curacao in that opening match against El Salvador. I expected much more from them and we need to see it here or else they will be out before they have even got going in the tournament. Honduras were a funny one for me I have to say. I suspect they will win this game but I also think there is more to come from Curacao. This is an intriguing no bet match for me.
