I’ve had a number of people in the last couple of months asking me what happened to the weekly column I wrote at the beginning of the season with some suggesting I should start it again so from now on I will continue the column here.
I must admit that over the current 11 day break that the Town are just about to finish, I have completely switched off from all things League 2, writing a couple of previews for this site aside, but it appears I may be one of few who did.
I’m not usually one to take in live matches when Luton don’t play, but I made an exception last Saturday, when I took in the FA Cup match between Brighton and Coventry at the Amex Stadium.
As someone who is closing in on completing ‘the 92’, this was the chance to tick off a new ground which moves me up to 77 of the current 92, and also to enjoy a game of football without the emotional attachment that is involved in every Luton game.

The match at the Amex was delayed by 15 minutes to allow a very healthy crowd to make it into the stadium, so while I was waiting for kick off, I logged into my social media accounts.
Throughout the course of the afternoon, and indeed again on Tuesday night when supposed promotion rivals were in action, I saw a number of messages commenting on how the League 2 action was progressing.
There were posts getting worked up that Wycombe were winning again, while Accrington’s downfall at Barnet was seemingly a cause for celebration, and although I’m sure some of it was to pass the time, I couldn’t share the same enthusiasm for worrying about the other teams.
Indeed my own thoughts on the situation were perfectly summed up by my good friend Paul (@misterpdw) with this tweet shortly after the Crawley match last time out.
Chap who sits in the same row as me ' Wycombe, Accrington, Notts County, Mansfield all won'.

The time for worrying about the other teams in the league is well behind us. We only need to worry about ourselves and while the fortunes of others might speed up (or slow down) the process, we will be promoted at some point in the next two months.
With 13 matches left and 67pts already in the bag we are 5-6 wins away from securing promotion and whether they come in ground out 1-0 wins, or fluent high scoring victories, they will come and we will all be celebrating becoming a League One club again.
Rather than worry about anyone else, let’s enjoy the last quarter of what has been a fantastic season and make the next 13 matches a party atmosphere, beginning against Cheltenham on Saturday afternoon.
