The inaugural Hero Cup will conclude on Sunday when the two teams of 10 players face off in singles action to determine whether it will be the Great Britain and Ireland team who become the first champions of the Continental Europe one.
Continental Europe take a two point lead into the final day and if they pick up 4.5 of the 10 singles points on offer they will win the Hero Cup. Great Britain and Ireland need to come away with 6.5 of those points if they are to win it.
First Five Matches
As you would imagine for such an important day both captains have frontloaded their teams and put some big players up first. The opening match of Sunday sees Shane Lowry taking on the Continental Europe captain Francesco Molinari. The Great Britain and Ireland captain Tommy Fleetwood is up second when he plays Thomas Pieters before Tyrrell Hatton faces Antoine Rozner. Seamus Power is the fourth pick for GB&I and he will meet a Nicolai Hojgaard who has relished being in the company of Francesco Molinari all week. The fifth match of the day sees Matt Wallace taking on Thomas Detry.

Later Five Matches
As ever in these team competitions we don’t know exactly what impact the second half of the schedule will have on the overall result but with the Ryder Cup captain watching on everyone will want to prove a point and win their singles match. Callum Shinkwin is sixth up for Great Britain and Ireland. He meets Adrian Meronk with Jordan Smith facing Victor Perez in game seven. Ewen Ferguson and Sepp Straka will be the eighth match on the course and then the final two matches sees Robert MacIntyre meeting Alex Noren in a great game low down the schedule and Richard Mansell taking on Guido Migliozzi.
Betting
Ewen Ferguson hasn’t won a match this week yet and he might feel under a bit of pressure to get the job done for his team on Sunday but I expect him to come up short against a Sepp Straka who is really investing in making the Ryder Cup team. He is playing the next two DP World Tour events and has given up a shot at the Sony Open this week to appear here and he wouldn’t do that if he wasn’t serious. Unlike Ferguson, the Austrian has won a match this week and beat a decent pairing in Shane Lowry and Tyrell Hatton to do it.
I think Straka is the better player of these two anyway but he has match play experience having played in the WGC Match Play last year where he beat Will Zalatoris in the group stage. I also think his game is better served of the two for desert golf. Ferguson has no record to speak of when it comes to desert golf. Straka has an excellent tee to green game and now that he’s had 54 holes on these greens I would expect him to find his form on them and if he does he should have way too much for Ferguson here.
