Horse Racing – Haydock Thursday 25th June Tips and Betting Preview

There are four race meetings in the UK and Ireland over the course of Thursday afternoon and into the evening. They race at Haydock Park and Fairyhouse in the afternoon while there are evening cards at Bath and Leicester.

There should be some competitive action across all four meetings but in terms of out and out betting opportunities they come few and far between. After scouring the cards we have come up with the one bet.

1.45 Haydock

Preview

A cracking looking Class 2 handicap over 6 furlongs & there’s a field of 14 lining up.  Aljady won over this course & distance last time out but is up in grade and that, coupled with his 5lbs higher mark, may be tough for him to overcome.  Off bottom weight, Motagally is a danger to all especially since his improvement for the fitting of blinkers but, again, a rise in class is a negative to his chances.  Celsius is in top mark (4 wins from last 5), loves this track (3 from 3) but is another up in grade.

Betting

Going the other way is our selection, Staxton.  Now a 5 year old, this decent type has something to prove following recent form figures of 050007 but he’s been campaigned in some top class races off much higher marks than this; Sky Best Dash, Great St Wilfrid, Ayr Gold Cup & Coral Sprint Trophy amongst the races he’s taken in.

He races off a career low mark of 90 today & has recorded handicap wins off 95 & 99, and placed off 99, 100, 100 & 101.  He was behind Tinto on his reappearance on Newmarket but he took a keen hold early doors that day.  Fitter for that run, at a track where his record reads 2 from 2, off a lowly mark & with a good draw to tack over to the rail, he has every chance here.

Tips

VOID – Back Staxton (e/w) for a 1/10 stake at 10.00 Coral BOG (1/5 odds 1-4)
