After a win for each side so far in the T20 series between India and England it will be decided in a deciding match in Bangalore on Wednesday. India will be looking for a clean sweep of the series against England while England will want to be leaving with something to show for their exploits on this tour so we should get an excellent finale.
India
Not for the first time in this series India struggled with the bat. To me their batting order doesn’t look balanced enough. They lack power down the order which I guess is why MS Dhoni was held back in the previous match and they don’t look the same side with Virat Kohli opening the batting. Someone definitely needs to stand up and be counted.
India’s bowling has been their weak link for the last period of time but it came good when they really needed it in the second match to level the series. Jasprit Bunrah was quite brilliant in the last over to secure a win which sets up this series but there must be a concern about how England are getting after the rest of the sides.
England
Eoin Morgan’s men may well be ruing not having secured the series already but a couple of horrible umpiring decisions combined with a bit of panic late in their batting innings has allowed India back into the series and means England need to regroup if they are to achieve their aim of a series win in this match.
One positive for England has been their bowling efforts. To restrict India to less than 150 in both matches so far is no mean effort but that bowling unit will be tested to the full in this match. Although their batsmen didn’t get them over the line in the previous match they have become more reliable in recent times and shouldn’t be written off already.
Team News
It appears India are going to go into this match with an unchanged side which in one way given they won last time would be understandable but I wouldn’t be surprised if something happens to their batting line up.
England are unlikely to go in with three spinners here given the short boundaries on this ground so Liam Plunkett is likely to return. Liam Dawson or Adil Rashid would be most likely to make way for him.
Betting
As ever on this ground in Bangalore there is just no value in betting on the match outcome before we know who will chase. This ground is tiny and almost impossible to defend in the second innings regardless of whether any dew falls so I’m leaving the match betting alone and moving to the obvious side market.
That is of course the sixes where the line might look a little high at 15.5 but don’t let that put you off because this ground really is tiny and it is at altitude so the ball will fly further. India haven’t hit many sixes in the series yet but I expect that to change here. England are naturally big hitters of a cricket ball and I would expect to see the sixes total push towards 20. Over is definitely the way to go.
