India vs England – T20 Series Betting Preview

England have been comprehensively outplayed in Test matches and the first two ODIs against India but having finally got a win under their belts in the final ODI they will go into the three match T20 series with a bit of confidence and will fancy their chances of leaving India with a series win.

India will be out to right the wrongs of the World T20 which they hosted last year and will be eager to bring England down a peg or two in this format so this series should be of the highest quality.

Schedule

1st T20: Jan 26 at Kanpur

2nd T20: Jan 29 at Nagpur

3rd T20: Feb 1 at Bangalore

India

India were beaten in the semi-final of that World T20 when everyone expected them to win the tournament. They didn’t factor running into an expert run chase by the eventual winners West Indies and paid the price but they should remember back to that match as nothing has changed with regards to their bowling being cannon fodder.

Since then India have been largely inactive in this format of the game aside from a three match series against Zimbabwe and two largely exhibition matches against the West Indies in America. Given their inactivity it will be interesting to see how they adapt to this format having not played it for a while.

England

This will be England’s first T20s in India since that infamous night in Kolkata when they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in the World T20 final. Since then England have comfortably beaten Sri Lanka in a one off match and been walloped by Pakistan in another one off game.

England are a much improved side on both forms of one day cricket at the minute but this is probably their strongest of the two formats and they will be out to bury the memories of that T20 final defeat. Having won that final ODI they will head into this series believing they can claim the spoils.

Betting

Just with the ODI series I think this one is going to be dominated by the chasing sides. There is nothing to suggest the bowling attacks have improved and with the three matches being on much smaller grounds than the ODIs I would be surprised if there isn’t a massive advantage for the chasing sides.

With that in mind the series outcome isn’t easy to predict so for a bet on the series I’m heading to the player markets where I like one in the top England series batsman market. I took Eoin Morgan in the ODIs but he bats too low down for my liking so I’m going to go with the man who beat him in that series which is Jason Roy.

Had Alex Hales been around then I may well have sided with him but he isn’t so the form Jason Roy showed in the ODIs makes him a leading contender to top score here. This Indian seam attack isn’t going to worry him and I expect him to get England off to plenty of good starts and that can lead him to top score for the tourists in the series.
