India vs South Africa – 3rd T20 Tips and Betting Preview

The final T20 between India and South Africa takes place on Sunday with India going into it knowing they already have a share of the series while South Africa will be looking to come out on top in Bangalore to get their tour up and running from a winning standpoint.

India controlled the second game after the first one was washed out so it is the Proteas who go in search of the answers and have to provide them here. A similar performance to the last one is what India will be searching for.

India

It is interesting that India are using some of their bench strength in this series. Whether that is to rest some of their senior players for the huge amounts of cricket to come, or to build up competition for places for the World T20 down under next year. You would think the IPL would largely pick that side though so we can only assume that it is the former. It will be interesting to see if they go any stronger for this final match.

It seems that in their own conditions, whatever bowling attack they put out they are very solid. That is probably a legacy of the IPL but they bowled very well in Mohali in particular. That unit will be tested in this match because the boundaries are so short but they have it in them to back themselves. This match will largely be won by the batsmen though but they have that area of the game covered too.

South Africa

In the main South Africa went pretty well with the ball in Mohali but they struggled to adapt to the conditions when they had the bat in hand and as a result they were behind the eight ball throughout. I wouldn’t say India toyed with them necessarily but I thought they always had things under control so the test for the touring side is to find more fluency with the bat and maybe be prepared to take a few more risks.

That should come naturally on a ground of this size though so if they can bowl with the quality they showed in the last game then there is no reason why the Proteas can’t pick up the win to level the series. I wouldn’t go as far as to suggest that they need to win in order to deliver the goods in the Tests to come, but victory here would certainly show India that they are not just making up the numbers at least.

Team News

India included Krunal Pandya in the previous game but he didn’t really go much however he might stay in the side by virtue of the fact that his all-round skills probably offer more on this ground than Rahul Chahar.

South Africa kept Junior Dala in reserve but he could be unleashed here as they look to square the series. His pace would be important on this ground. Bjorn Fortuin is expected to keep this place in the side too.

Betting

I fancy we’ll get a higher scoring match here than we got in Mohali. The pitch there was a little slower than what would have been expected but that shouldn’t be the case here and even if it is there are enough big hitters to clear the ropes here. I thought South Africa played India’s spinners pretty well in the main which will give them confidence that they can score runs here.

Generally this is a high scoring ground and that isn’t too much of a surprise given the dimensions of the ground. I think this is going to be a tough evening for the bowlers so I’m a little surprised that the runs line for this one is only 330.5. You would expect the first innings to be more than 165 whoever it is who bats first and then it is just a case of the team batting second mopping up the rest.
