There is one more match in the Indian Premier League on Thursday and it is the final match of the season from Indore. It sees the Kings XI Punjab hosting the Mumbai Indians in yet another big game in the competition.
Mumbai Indians have made their best start to a season and head into the match level with two sides at the top. They will take the solo lead in the table should they win. Kings XI are in a logjam behind the Indians so both will want a win.
Kings XI Punjab
The Kings XI started the season in excellent fashion winning their first two matches of the season on this ground but since they have left it and gone on their travels they have dropped three successive matches. Now they are back on one of their home soils they will be desperate to get back to winning ways.
To be fair they almost came from the dead in their last match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad but they fell just short in an epic contest. It must be said though that the scoreboard papered over cracks which were their experienced, senior overseas players not delivering and that is a trend no side can afford to get into in this tournament.
Mumbai Indians
Mumbai lost their opening match of the season but since then they have gone on a great run winning four matches on the trot and they really look the part. When you think they should have won that first game too they are fast becoming the favourites to win the tournament if they can avoid major injuries.
Mumbai Indians still have a slight weakness at the top of the order but the fact they have moved people around suggests that they know that is an area they need to improve which is encouraging. They certainly don’t lack anything with the ball or in the field since that opening match so they are dangerous.
Team News
Eoin Morgan and David Miller could easily be replaced having offered little in the tournament to date. Shaun Marsh, Martin Guptill, Darren Sammy and Marcus Stoinis are all in line to replace them.
Mumbai Indians aren’t likely to change too much. They have no need to make wholesale changes. Any changes they do make could come in the order rather than the line up.

Betting
This isn’t a ground to get stuck into the match betting on until we know who is batting second. We’ve seen in the first two matches here just how small it is and defending for either side is going to be tough so I’ll head to the obvious side market for a bet on the match.
That is of course the sixes, which I expect to flow in this one. The line is 14.5 but the two matches here so far have yielded 16 sixes and 20 and neither have been particularly high scoring. The latter match was 148 against 150 which had 20 sixes and that in a nutshell highlights how easy it is to hit them here.
We have some serial hitters of a cricket ball on show here in Glenn Maxwell, David Miller, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, Nitish Rana and Kieron Pollard not to mention the Indian stars so I’m expecting this line to be covered quite comfortably.
I’m also going to have a go at the man of the match market. Someone is going to hit a few sixes here and I’m expecting Kieron Pollard to be a leading contender. He belts sixes for fun on any ground and here especially he could clear the ropes with a mishit especially if he ends up facing Kings XI’s awful death bowling. At 16/1 he’s overpriced especially as he’s likely to contribute in the field and possibly with the ball too.
