Indian Premier League 2017 – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kolkata Knight Riders Betting Preview

The second match in the Sunday double header in the Indian Premier League sees two of the top three battling it out in Hyderabad as the Sunrisers host the Kolkata Knight Riders in what should be one of the matches of the tournament to date.

I say that because the Sunrisers are very strong on their own patch but it could be argued that nobody are going as well as the Knight Riders at the present time so this one is nicely set up it must be said.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Sunrisers will have been pleased to get a monkey off their back last time out when they finally won on the road for the first time this season. They did it with an all-round performance against the Kings XI Punjab and it could be that which pleases the team and the coaching staff the most heading into this one.

In fairness to the Sunrisers they have been pretty good with the ball for most of the season but at times they have struggled with the bat. If they can ensure they go well with the willow in hand then we can expect them to continue to put up a solid title defence which could yet see them go all the way through to the final.

Kolkata Knight Riders

The Kolkata Knight Riders are the team of the moment and they head into this clash on top of the table and looking to all but secure a spot in the playoffs. They will still want to keep on winning and push for a top two spot at the end of the season because that gets them straight into the qualifier rather than the eliminator.

The batting looked to lack something heading into the tournament but the move to promote Sunil Narine up the batting order has proven to be a masterstroke and with the rest of the top order in good touch and the bowling attack improving all the time it is looking likely that Kolkata could regain their crown.

Team News

Sunrisers could well be unchanged from the side which won last time out. They brought Ashish Nehra back into the side and he performed well enough to retain his place.

Kolkata Knight Riders have mixed up their spinners in this tournament to keep them fresh but with Kuldeep Yadav going so well it might be that they choose not to change anything for this one.

Betting

I think these two are evenly enough matched that this is a genuine 50/50 match so I’m not really interested in betting in the match outcome. I might get involved personally once we’ve seen the toss and the start but not until then.

Going into the match though I’m going to take Kolkata Knight Riders to hit the most sixes. They have been very positive with the bat right through the tournament and even those players not renowned for hitting sixes have been hitting them in this tournament.

Sunrisers tend to rely on two players when it comes to the six hitting department and if Dave Warner were to fall early then it could be a while before the other man – Yuvraj Singh – comes in to bat. Kolkata have been hitting the most sixes in their matches for a while and they look fair odds to do it again here.
