IPL 2018 – Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings Betting Preview

The Indian Premier League is back in Bangalore on Wednesday for what should be an extremely entertaining contest between two of the bigger hitting sides in the competition as the Royal Challengers Bangalore host the Chennai Super Kings.

It has been a pretty poor start to the season for the home side but they do go into the match off the back of a win last time out. Chennai have flown out of the traps this season and they will top the pile if they win here.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

We are still waiting for this much vaunted Bangalore batting line up to deliver the goods as a whole unit but I guess when you have AB de Villiers in your ranks you don’t really need an entire line up contributing. Bangalore have won two matches this season and AB de Villiers has played special innings on both occasions.

The real issue why the Royal Challengers haven’t won as many matches as they have wanted to has definitely been their woes with the ball. They are one of the worst sides in the competition at the back end of an innings and if they don’t take wickets early on then it is just carnage the longer their bowling innings progresses.

Chennai Super Kings

The returning franchise are another side who have very much relied on their batsmen this season. Their bowling hasn’t really fired although in fairness to them there have been signs that they might be getting used to the task in hand. If they can find some form and consistency with the ball then they could be really dangerous.

Their batting has been wonderful. Most of their order have got runs when they have needed to and if they ever put it all together then you get the feeling that big scores will come regularly. What I like about their batting is that they have plenty of experience of pacing innings should come naturally and pressure shouldn’t get to them very often.

Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore look set to go into this match with an unchanged side after winning last time out. It appears that Brendon McCullum will continue on the sidelines with Chris Woakes remaining the only overseas bowler unless Corey Anderson gets a bowl again.

Imran Tahir missed the previous Chennai Super Kings match with illness but he is fit again. It remains to be seen whether he replaces Faf du Plessis in the side. It could be that he replaces Sam Billings who has gone quiet since his match winning innings against Kolkata.

Betting

This should be a good match to watch because we have two sides who are very much stronger with the bat than they are with the ball. Throw in the small ground in Bangalore and we have ourselves a decent contest but one where betting on the match outcome might not be the wisest idea.

I think the better bet will come in the form of the sixes market. The last two matches have seen sixes totals of 21 and 19 and the last game against Delhi wasn’t exactly hugely scoring which highlights the six hitting potential here. De Villiers, De Kock, Kohli, Anderson, Watson, du Plessis, Raina, Dhoni and Billings can all belt a huge ball and with neither bowling attack much cop I fancy over 14.5 sixes is the way forward here.
