IPL 2019 – Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians Betting Preview

The Delhi Capitals return home in the Indian Premier League on Thursday when they host the Mumbai Indians at Feroz Shah Kotla in a clash between the sides sat in second and third in the table heading into the afternoon.

Both these teams are used to having to battle for points to climb up the league table at this stage of a campaign but roles have changed now and instead both outfits will be looking for the victory which would only act to strengthen their postseason ambitions.

Delhi Capitals

It has been an up and down campaign for the Delhi Capitals but after eight matches they have five wins, courtesy of having come out victorious in their last three outings, all of which were on the road. They could be in an even better position than they are because they’ve checked a couple of matches away with a lack of responsibility from someone with the bat.

I said it before the tournament began and I keep on saying it, the Delhi Capital are one of the best balanced sides in the competition. They tick near enough every box. If there is a weakness it might be in the role of a finisher but you would think they will sort that out eventually. Top order batting and bowling throughout the innings is certainly sorted.

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians bounced back from defeat to the Rajasthan Royals when they beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last match, a victory which stemmed from some wonderful death bowling around some extremely indifferent batting. It would be stretching the truth to suggest that Mumbai cruised through the run chase but all that matters is that they got the job done.

To be fair to them, their bowling has come on as the competition has gone on and as all of their batsmen start to contribute to the cause, there is a lot to like about the Mumbai Indians. We know they peak in the second half of seasons so they have plenty going for them ahead of the run in for this term, which is ominous for the rest of the tournament.

Team News

Colin Ingram had returned home for the birth of his child and missed the last game. Colin Munro played well and could keep his place if Ingram is back in the country, although the South African would provide a power hitter deeper in the order.

Mumba Indians have no need to change their personnel from the previous match unless there is an illness or an injury which they have not disclosed. If they do change it could be to bring Yuvraj Singh back for Ishan Kishan.

I like the Delhi Capitals here. I don’t think this Feroz Shah Kotla wicket stands up well for the Mumbai Indians and it is no surprise to me that they have an ordinary record against the artists formerly known as the Daredevils. This pitch can be a bit sticky and give assistance to the spinners and Mumbai don’t really have too much quality in that department.

The beauty of this Delhi side is that regardless of the conditions they have the personnel to bowl on it and having thrashed Mumbai at Wankhede in the first match these two played this season I’m surprised the home side are odds against in this one. Delhi are ticking along nicely at the present time and on this wicket I expect them to come through here.
