IPL 2019 – Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai Indians Betting Preview

The second half of the Indian Premier League double header on Saturday sees the focus head to Hyderabad where two former winners of the competition collide as the Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Mumbai Indians.

Both these teams have made acceptable starts to the season so we should get a decent contest out of them here. Some high quality T20 players are on show in this match too so this looks like a great way to spend a Saturday evening.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

The home side go into the match leading the table at the beginning of the weekend with three wins from their first four matches. That would have been four wins on the bounce had they not been one of Andre Russell’s victims with the bat earlier in the campaign. As we saw on Friday, when he is on it you can’t bowl to him so the Sunrisers certainly shouldn’t be judged on that outcome.

They have largely ridden the back of their top three to get into the position they are in, but with their bowling suddenly showing signs of life there is the belief that the Sunrisers are going to be a dangerous side throughout the campaign once again. As with the other day though, I just wonder what they will offer if they lose early wickets.

Mumbai Indians

It is very rare to see a two in the win column of the Mumbai Indians at this stage of a season but that reflects a much better beginning to the campaign for them and has provided them with a platform to launch a big title campaign from. Slowly but surely things are beginning to fall into place for the Indians and they should be taken seriously from here on in.

I always believe that T20 is about balance in a team and the Mumbai outfit have that. They have class at the top of the order, players who can knock it around if the going is tough but batter it if conditions are good and then they are loaded with power down the order to propel any total. They cover all bases with the ball too making them extremely dangerous.

Team News

There appears to be no reason to change the line up for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is unclear whether Kane Williamson is fit after his injury struggles but even if he is Mohammad Nabi is in such good form there is no place for him.

Mumbai Indians are likely to be unchanged from the win over Chennai last time out unless they want to bring Mayank Makande back into the reckoning. The four overseas players look to have their spots locked in.

Betting

I took on the Sunrisers Hyderabad against Delhi in midweek because I don’t think their middle order stands up to what is needed if their top order fail but sadly for me the Capitals couldn’t find enough runs and could not get the first wicket early enough in the run chase. I stand by my thinking though and as such I’m with the Mumbai Indians here.

If there is a team in this competition who have the ability to get rid of the Sunrisers’ openers early then it is the Mumbai Indians with Jason Behrendorff, Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah all high class options up front. If they can get into this Sunrisers middle order early on I’m convinced there isn’t much in it. There are signs that the Mumbai batting might just be cranking into gear so at a shade over even money they are my bet here.
