We have a double header of action in the Indian Premier League on Sunday and the opening game of the two sees the IPL 2025 campaign continuing for the Delhi Capitals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Visakhapatnam.
Both of these sides have one win to their name so the winner here will join the Royal Challengers Bangalore on two wins. Sunrisers have played the extra match so they might be more eager to get the job done here.
Delhi Capitals
The Delhi Capitals went into the season a little unknown given the huge amount of changes that have happened to the franchise since last term. A new coach has come in and new players including a new captain and we never really knew how they were going to go until we saw them in action. I think most would agree that the squad looked better on paper but given the size of the turnaround in personnel it made sense to wonder if it would take a while for them to get up to speed and show their best stuff.
I don’t think we could say that we saw the best of the Capitals in their opening game. They largely snatched victory from the jaws of defeat but those are the kind of wins which give teams plenty of confidence and belief to move forward with. There is more to come from the Delhi outfit as well because KL Rahul missed their opening match and you would imagine when this team gel they will find more within themselves too.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Sunrisers Hyderabad leave their home ground for the first time this season and after a win and a loss to get their campaign underway they will be looking to pick up a road win here. Sunrisers went into the tournament as the favourites to win the competition and we saw exactly why in their opening game but then we saw what might hold them back in the second one and it will be interesting to see what comes of this outing.
The batting unit for the Sunrisers is about as fearsome as there has ever been in the IPL and when they come off for 20 overs they will win a lot more games than they lose but if they don’t structure the innings right or nobody takes responsibility to get them to a score there is a huge hole in their bowling unit and that has been shown in both matches so far with them conceding 242/6 and 193/5 in just 16.1 overs. That bowling needs to find a way of being more effective and impactful.

Key Players
All eyes will be on KL Rahul as he looks to put on the Delhi colours for the first time. He is the sort of class act that can hold the innings together and ensure that the Capitals put up a big score so they could do with him hitting the ground running.
Travis Head has got an easy life in this competition. He goes out and smacks a few boundaries and then gets subbed off for the fielding innings. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hoping that he has plenty more boundaries in him here.
Betting
As you would imagine after the first game in Visak which was high scoring and full of boundaries, the lines involving runs, boundaries and sixes are all inflated here. That was going to be the case even more given the powerful batting unit that the Sunrisers Hyderabad have at their disposal but none of those lines allow for the Sunrisers losing regular wickets like they did in the match that they lost last time out. I certainly wouldn’t want to be on anything that needs a low scoring contest here so I’ll get a little creative for a bet.
The bet I like comes in the form of the Delhi Capitals scoring more than 94.5 runs in the opening 10 overs of the innings. In their only match so far they only made 88/5 but they were three down after two overs and I would be surprised if that happens too often. Sunrisers have conceded 118/3 and 129/2 in the opening 10 overs of their first two matches. Delhi might well have a top four of Faf du Plessis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abishek Porel and KL Rahul in this match and they should fill their boots against an attack which is getting smacked all over the place. In this IPL 9.5 an over is only really par so I expect the Capitals to go beyond that here.
