The Major League Cricket campaign continues with another match on Wednesday afternoon as we go back to Morrisville for the latest clash between the San Francisco Unicorns and the Texas Super Kings.
The Freedom emphatically won their opening match of the tournament while the Super Kings have suffered a loss and then a rained out affair where the outcome was in the balance so it will be interesting to see what this one has to offer.
San Francisco Unicorns
The San Francisco Unicorns were the last team to get their Major League Cricket season underway but they made an immediate impact when they did get started as they emphatically took apart the Los Angeles Knight Riders, although I think it is fair to say that the form of that win hasn’t exactly been franked but even allowing for that, the Unicorns looked in decent order and will be keen to follow up that display here.
I don’t think it was the best bowling display from the Unicorns in that opening match, although with Pat Cummins waiting in the wings when he arrives you would imagine that the bowling will sort itself out. What was impressive though was the aggressive intent that they showed with the bat right from the very start of their batting effort. That soon had them on top and they never relinquished the advantage. It will be interesting to see if that approach continues should they need to bat first.
Texas Super Kings
The Texas Super Kings were shackled in their opening match when they fell to defeat against the Los Angeles Knight Riders but they came out all guns blazing in their second game against the Washington Freedom only to potentially be thwarted by the rain, although it has to be said that there was no guarantee that they would have defended the score that they had put up given how Washington came out with the bat.
You would have to say that the Super Kings haven’t had the best end of the schedule having had to go from Dallas to Morrisville between their opening two matches but they will be pleased to be playing at the same ground here and might have an edge having played here already. They will be looking to offer up a better showing with the ball than they managed in the four overs they bowled last time out but it looks like the batting is functioning after some doubts during the first game.

Key Players
Finn Allen looked like the brutal opening batter that we know he can be in the opening match for the Washington Freedom even though he had a quiet time of it at the T20 World Cup. The Freedom will be hoping that he can continue his form.
Faf du Plessis scored a century in the last match for the Texas Super Kings and they will be hoping that their captain can continue to lay the foundations for the innings and go on and take the game away from the opposition.
Betting
The wicket in Morrisville played much better in the last match than in the first couple which makes me think that conditions are beginning to level out a little bit and with that in mind I fancy we might get an entertaining affair here because these are two teams who are loaded with power at the top of the order and when you look down the bowling units there isn’t really much that is going to scare off the opposition in either side here.
We saw an innings from the Texas Super Kings which had 28 boundaries in it before the rain came in the last match on this ground. That was against a better looking bowling attack man for man than the one they will face here. We saw the San Francisco Unicorns come out all guns blazing with the bat in their opening game and there is nothing to suggest they will be going to change their approach here so when you put it all together, unless there is a dramatic change of conditions, I think over 37.5 boundaries can land.
