The Metro Bank One Day Cup continues on Friday when we have six matches taking place across the two groups as the opening phase of the competition heads closer towards the halfway mark of what is becoming an interesting tournament.
We might have more games than usual on Friday but it is still The Hundred which gets all of the TV attention so if you have a bet on these matches and want to follow it in visual form then you will need to load up the county stream.
Group A
We have a full slate of matches in Group A on Friday which means that the leaders Nottinghamshire get the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table when they welcome Hampshire to Sookholme with the visitors the only team in the group with a 100% record so far. The other early start in this group comes from The Oval where Surrey take on the defending champions Kent. We have a couple of day-night matches to follow on Friday as well. Leicestershire have made a decent start to the tournament and will look to maintain that when they take on Lancashire at Old Trafford. Essex haven’t got going in the competition to date and they take on a Middlesex team who are also looking for their first win in the competition at Chelmsford.

Group B
Just the two matches take place in Group B on Friday with the other two having been played on Thursday. Both matches feature four sides who haven’t really got going so far in this tournament and who will be under pressure to win. Somerset will be looking to bounce back from conceding over 400 to Northamptonshire on Wednesday when they host a Sussex team who have lost their first three matches and can’t afford to lose another. Durham and Derbyshire will be looking to better their position in the table when they meet up at the Riverside.
Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the action on Friday and they come in the form of match runs. The first one I like is the match at Taunton where Somerset and Sussex meet. I think we’ve seen enough from both of these teams so far in the tournament to suggest that they are much better when they have the bat in hand than the ball and when you factor in the size of the ground in Taunton that could mean carnage. There is no real wiggle room for these sides now so we are going to need to see the best of them with the bat and if we do see that then I am confident that two deep batting units will cover 556.5 runs.
The other match I like runs comes at Old Trafford where Leicestershire take on Lancashire. Leicestershire have been one of the highest scoring teams in the competition so far but still leave a bit to be desired with the ball for my liking. Lancashire are better with the ball but are going up against a gun batting unit. The positive for the beaten finalists of last season is that they have a pretty deep batting unit themselves and they posted 325 last time out seemingly without sweat. We are seeing plenty of high scores in this tournament and I fancy another can come at Old Trafford on Friday.
