Metro Bank One Day Cup 2023 – Sunday 13th August Matches Tips and Betting Preview

After a day off on Saturday, the Metro Bank One Day Cup returns with a full slate of games on Sunday as we move into the second half of the group phase for the majority of the teams on show over the course of the day.

Once again it is The Hundred which is taking up all of the TV air time which means that if you have a punt on these matches and would like to follow it then you’ll need to do so via the county live stream which is on offer.

Group A

Things are bubbling up nicely in Group A with five teams within two points of each other at the top of the table. The top two actually play each other on Sunday when Hampshire put their perfect record on the line when they entertain the leaders Leicestershire in a match which could go some way to determining who makes it straight into the semi-final from this section. Nottinghamshire will look to boost their position in the table when they host Surrey at Sookholme while elsewhere Kent will look to give their title defence a lift when Middlesex are the visitors to Beckenham and Essex host Yorkshire at Chelmsford in the other game.

Group B

It isn’t just Group A where the top two meet on Sunday, they do so in Group B as well as Worcestershire welcome their rivals and leaders Warwickshire to New Road for a tasty clash. The two teams in behind them face off on Sunday as well with Durham taking on Northamptonshire. Glamorgan have their hopes in the competition hanging by a thread and they head to Hove to take on a Sussex side who are in the same position while two rivals meet at Bristol as Gloucestershire look to get back to winning ways against a Somerset side who have also lost their last two matches.

Betting

There is only one bet which I like the look of on Sunday and it comes at Beckenham where Kent take on Middlesex in what I believe will be a high scoring match. Beckenham is usually a paradise for runs and there is no lack of depth in the batting of either of these sides. We have seen that in the competition so far with Kent having scored 330/6 in their win over Surrey last time out, having shipped 380/5 and 328/5 in their two previous matches.

Middlesex have only batted twice in the competition and their 309/7 and 295 were losing efforts on both occasions. That tells us that they bat deep but it also highlights the weakness of their side which is very much with the ball. The same can be said of Kent as evidenced by those totals they conceded earlier in the competition. When you put a good batting pitch, two deep batting units and weak bowling attacks all into the same mix I expect to see more than 533.5 runs in this one.
