There is just the one match in the MLS this midweek and it comes along on Wednesday night when the Columbus Crew host Toronto FC for the second time in this campaign. They met on this ground last month when the Crew won 2-1.
Since then Toronto FC have gone on such a good run that they now top the Eastern Conference while Columbus Crew have slipped to fourth but the Crew would draw level with the Canadian side at the top with a win.
Columbus Crew
Columbus ended a run of three defeats in four with a win over the New England Revolution at the weekend. Their last two defeats were against the two New York sides so you could argue that there isn’t a huge amount wrong with that but now they are back on their own patch for a while they will be looking to pick up their form.
Going forward the Crew have had few issues in recent times and with Federico Higuain beginning to come back into form we can expect that to continue but it is defensively where they are going to need to be somewhere near their best here as they are sure to be tested to the full by this Toronto FC attack.
Toronto FC
That defeat launched a run of four successive wins for Toronto which has seen them soar to the top of the table as they look to get into a position to make it back to the MLS Cup final where they will be looking for revenge after the heartache of last season. Another win here would go a long way to doing just that.
As you would expect with the quality that they have Toronto’s attacking stats are up there with the best of them. They are very potent and the fact they won in Seattle without Giovinco at the weekend bodes very well for them. It is defensively where they have really improved and that makes them genuine title contenders.
Team News
Columbus Crew have a few long term injuries they are having to overcome. Gaston Sauro, Ben Swanson and Artur are all out while Brad Stuver and Alex Crognale are questionable here.
Toronto FC left Sebastian Giovinco out in Seattle the other night but he is in line to return to the side. Drew Moor and Ashtone Morgan are definitely out of this one.

Betting
My instinct is to back goals in this match but I am a little wary that both these sides have heavy schedules over the next few weeks which makes the chances of rotating their teams very much a possibility.
We saw that with Toronto FC at the weekend and with both playing again on Saturday night I wouldn’t be surprised if some key players are rested or don’t play the full 90 minutes so that could restrict both the goal scoring and the natural patterns of play so I’ll sit this one out.
