MLS 2017 – Saturday 1st April Matches Betting Preview

The MLS season continues with seven more matches on Saturday evening as both Conferences begin to take shape. Among those seven matches we have two live on TV in the UK with the other five being on the bookmaker streaming consoles.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (kick off time in brackets – UK time)

New York City vs San Jose Earthquakes (7pm)

Chicago Fire vs Montreal Impact (8pm)

Columbus Crew vs Orlando City (9pm)

DC United vs Philadelphia Union (Midnight)

Minnesota United vs Real Salt Lake City (1am)

Houston Dynamo vs New York Red Bulls (1.30am)

Vancouver Whitecaps vs LA Galaxy (3am)

Big Matches

The two live matches involve two of the newer franchises as New York City host the San Jose Earthquakes in a match which should be a routine home win. Orlando City head to Columbus Crew in an intriguing second TV match.

Best of the Rest

All eyes will be up in Chicago to see if Bastian Schweinsteiger makes his debut for the Fire when they host Montreal Impact while two of the poorer sides in the league do battle not far from there when Minnesota host Real Salt Lake. LA Galaxy will be looking for a win when they head to Canada to face Vancouver Whitecaps.

Betting

Just the one match interests me from a betting point of view in this set of fixtures and we have to wait until the penultimate match of the night for it. It comes in the Houston Dynamo vs New York Red Bulls match where I very much like the home side.

Houston have played three matches this season. They have won their first two and lost the latest one although they gave the Portland Timbers as good as they got that night. The Dynamo are playing a much better game and much more fluid style since the change in management and they are looking really good for it.

The Red Bulls are the regular season specialists in this league but they have played four matches and if I’m honest I can’t say I’ve been that impressed with them in any of them especially their two away games. They play a weird formation and look to be missing the solidity and organisation that Dax McCarty brought them.

Bookmakers have Houston as the slight favourites in this but I have them much heavier ones than that. The 4/5 on Houston on the draw no bet lines is a massive price in my eyes and very much deserves to be hit.
