Another weekend in Major League Soccer begins with some Friday night action. We have three matches in MLS to get the weekend started and we have some big sides on show which should make for an exciting night.
Unfortunate none of the three matches are live on TV in the UK so we will be reduced to the bookmaker streaming consoles in order to watch the action but that is better than nothing.
Toronto FC vs FC Dallas (01.00)
The opening match of the evening, or early hours of the morning UK time, sees the champions Toronto FC looking to get their campaign on track when they host FC Dallas from the Western Conference in what feels like a big game.
Toronto had a good win over the Orlando City side last weekend but they have not been able to put back-to-back wins to their name this season and that is their task here. They are generally good at home but their injuries will not be helping. FC Dallas look to have gone back to that side who are hard to beat after a poor campaign last term.
Toronto look a bit short to me but I’m not really a backer of Western Conference sides when they are on the road so this is one I’m happy enough to sit out.
Houston Dynamo vs New York City FC (01.55)
The second match of the night looks on paper at least to have the potential to be the most entertaining one as the Houston Dynamo host New York City FC. The Dynamo moved back into the playoff spots with their win in Chicago last week while NYCFC will go top of the Eastern Conference with a win here.
There is a part of me that feels that NYC are a big price in this match and I might end up regretting not taking them but I believe the better bet in the game comes in the goals. We saw Houston attack at will last week and that is very much their DNA, especially at home, while NYC love to play on the counter attack and can be devastating at it.
The goal line for this match is at 3 which has covered in full in five of the last six Houston matches with a push on the other occasion, and in six of the last seven NYC games again with a push in the other one. I’m expecting goals here so the over is a bit of a no brainer.
Los Angeles Galaxy vs San Jose Earthquakes (04.00)
The final match of the night is the first Cali Classico of the season as the Los Angeles Galaxy host the San Jose Earthquakes in a big clash in the Western Conference. Both sides sit outside the playoff places going into the contest so they could both do with a victory.
The big news ahead of this one is that the Galaxy will be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is suspended after his red card in Montreal on Monday night. That immediately puts me off of backing the home side and while there is value on the visitors I’m not certain there is enough of it to lure me into a bet. I’m a non-runner from a betting standpoint in this one.
