MLS 2018 – Montreal Impact vs Los Angeles Galaxy Betting Preview

The latest weekend in Major League Soccer concludes in Canada on Monday evening when the Montreal Impact takes on the Los Angeles Galaxy in a match which I’m sure will not be lacking in interest given the personnel on show.

The match sees two sides who are not yet in the playoff places in their respective conferences in action and of course we have the chance to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic once again. We can see him on our TV screens too because this match is live on Sky.

Montreal Impact

It has been one of those win or lose starts to the season for the Montreal Impact. Unfortunately for them they have not won nearly as many as they would have wanted to and as a result they have been cut adrift from the bulk of the pack and will need some real consistent form if they are to challenge for the postseason.

The Impact have no issue finding the back of the net. They are averaging more than a goal per match so far in this campaign but they have conceded an amazing amount of goals and therein lies their issue. Nobody in MLS has conceded more than the 26 goals they have shipped in their 11 matches so they must find a way of tightening up at the back.

Los Angeles Galaxy

As you would expect there was a spike in the form of the Los Angeles Galaxy when Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived but the novelty has worn off and their form has gone down the Khyber with it. They go into this match off the back of four successive defeats, the latest three all being by a 3-2 scoreline.

In many ways Galaxy are the Western Conference version of the Impact in that they have no problems finding the net but keeping goals out of their own net is proving to be much more of an issue than they would have liked. One appealing thing about the Galaxy is they have a go even on their travels although that isn’t always to their benefit.

Team News

The Montreal Impact go into the match without a couple of big players for them. Marco Donadel is out with an ankle injury while Jeisson Vargas has a problem with his left leg. Kyle Fisher is also out too.

Ashley Cole will be missing for Los Angeles Galaxy as he is suspended while Giovanni Dos Santos is rated as questionable for the match. Romain Alessandrini is back having missed the beginning of the season though.

Betting

I don’t think you can trust either of these two sides in their present form, especially with the way they are defending and with neither having won for a while the last thing we need is to back one of them and watch them get the lead and then have kittens watching them try and defend it late on.

The best way to play this game may look an obvious way of doing it but sometimes the obvious bets are the best bets. That is of course for there to be goals in this game and given recent matches the two have played in and the amount of goals they have leaked I’m amazed the line for this one is only 3. Los Angeles have conceded that in each of their last three while Montreal have conceded the most in MLS. Over 3 looks a safe bet here.
