The latest MLS weekend continues on Saturday evening and after the champions Toronto FC got it off to a winning start on Friday night the turn of a number of leading sides comes along across the night and into the early morning.
In all there are six fixtures across various kick off times and for those of us who love our MLS the good thing is that two of them are on TV for those in the UK. The other four are easy to find streams for so we can enjoy a good evening of action.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)
New York City FC vs Colorado Rapids (18.00)
Portland Timbers vs Los Angeles FC (20.00)
FC Dallas vs Vancouver Whitecaps (21.00)
New England Revolution vs Columbus Crew (00.30)
Philadelphia Union vs Real Salt Lake (00.30)
San Jose Earthquakes vs DC United (03.30)
Big Matches
It is the opening two matches of the evening that are the big ones as they are the ones on TV in the UK. New York City FC look to have an ideal chance of closing the gap on Atlanta United in the first match of the night. They take on a Colorado Rapids team who have been poor on the road this season. Portland Timbers then get the chance to maintain their 100% home record when they take on the new franchise Los Angeles FC in what feels like a big match in the Western Conference.
Best of the Rest
All eyes will be on New England to see if the Revolution can stop the Columbus Crew closing the gap on Atlanta United in the Eastern Conference. The Revs are going pretty well themselves so that looks an appealing match. FC Dallas are another side unbeaten at home and they host Vancouver Whitecaps while there are cross-Conference matches between Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake as well as San Jose Earthquakes and DC United.

Betting
I’m going to go with a couple of bets across the card throughout the evening. In the second of the TV matches I’m expecting to see some goals. Portland Timbers are an attacking unit at home and look to get their key men forward as much as possible but we are yet to see Los Angeles FC take a backward step this season and I’m not expecting them to start now. LAFC have plenty of goals in their ranks as do the Timbers so over 3 goals looks the play in that one.
Later in the evening I’m happy to take on the Columbus Crew. To be fair to the Crew they are going great runs this season but a lot of that is down to their home form as they haven’t actually scored a goal in their last four on the road. The only goals they picked up were on the opening day at Toronto FC and they caught them at a good time. New England Revolution are averaging two a game at home and the only match they have lost at the Gillette Stadium was against Dallas FC and they dominated that. In their last two matches there they have beaten Sporting Kansas City and Toronto FC. They’ve also drew with New York City so New England is becoming a tough place to go. I don’t see the yellow men getting anything from there.
