The latest round of matches in Major League Soccer draw to a close on Sunday evening with three fixtures in the competition as six more sides look to enhance their credentials by picking up an important win.
Two of the three matches are live on TV for those of us in the UK which makes watching much easier while the other fixture is on the live streams so there is no reason why we shouldn’t enjoy a decent Sunday evening in the division.

Philadelphia Union vs Sporting Kansas City (18.00)
The opening match of the night sees the Philadelphia Union taking on Sporting Kansas City in a match which will have huge implications for the respective play-off spots. Philly can keep up the heat on the Columbus Crew with a win while Kansas City can go four points clear at the top of the Western Conference for a few hours at least.
Both these sides are in good touch at the minute and it might be that the Union playing in midweek proves to be the difference but I can’t say I’m rushing into back either of them here. SKC are probably fair favourites given Philly’s schedule but the Union are more than capable of winning this. I’ll take a watching brief.
LA Galaxy vs Seattle Sounders (00.00)
It is all about the Western Conference for the rest of the night with the surging Seattle Sounders heading to California to take on an LA Galaxy side who are fallen right off the wagon in recent weeks.
Galaxy need to win this to revive their fast fading hopes of a spot in the postseason while a win for the Sounders will put nine points between themselves and their opponents with matches beginning to run out. It will also move them up to fourth where they would secure a home tie in the first round of the play-offs if they can make it there.
Given the form they are in I’m amazed the Galaxy are odds on here. They haven’t won in seven matches and have shipped 23 goals in that time, 11 of them in their last two matches. Admittedly most of them have been on the road but even then home draws with Minnesota and Colorado doesn’t inspire confidence. Seattle saw a nine match winning run ended in midweek but they look primed to begin another unbeaten run here against a Galaxy side who’ve lost the plot at the back.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs FC Dallas (00.00)
The other match of the night is another crucial game as Vancouver Whitecaps look to enhance their own hopes of another tilt at the postseason. They take on FC Dallas who will definitely be around once the regular season ended but who are still chasing a first round bye. A win here will certainly help with that.
The Whitecaps sit one spot outside the play-off places but they have a couple of games in hand and if they win them both they will be back among the top six. FC Dallas will move into second at worst with a win here and would go top if Sporting Kansas City slip up earlier in the night.
With what is on the line here I’m expecting something of a tight match here which rarely bodes well for betting purposes. There is plenty of draw potential which never truly lures me in so I’ll happily sit this one out.
