While the whole of England is worrying about football coming home, there are two matches in the MLS on Wednesday evening with four sides in the Eastern Conference going at it looking to improve their positions in the table.
Neither of these two matches are on TV for those of us in the UK so we are reduced to the various live stream options in order to keep up with what should be a couple of competitive matches at the very least.
New York City FC vs Montreal Impact (00.00)
The first of the two matches comes from Yankee Stadium as New York City FC take on the form horses of the Eastern Conference in the guise of Montreal Impact. New York City sit second in the table while Montreal have powered themselves up to the final playoff spot heading into the contest.
New York City should be buoyed by their win in the Hudson River derby on Sunday night but in truth they didn’t play all that well and will need an improvement in attacking areas if they are to get the job done here. Montreal Impact are in great form and are looking so solid at the back having conceded just three goals in their last six matches.
None of the last 10 matches involving the Impact have had more than three goals in them and only one of New York’s last five have. With the home side without Jo Berget and potentially missing David Villa too I’m not expecting many goals in this one.

Chicago Fire vs Philadelphia Union (01.30)
The two sides just below the playoff places in the Eastern Conference meet in the second match of the night when the Chicago Fire take on the Philadelphia Union with a place in the top six available for the winners should Montreal lose in New York.
Chicago Fire ended a run of five matches without defeat when they were beaten by Vancouver Whitecaps at the weekend while Philadelphia head to the Windy City with four defeats in their last five matches. The Union haven’t necessarily played all that badly in that time though so I wouldn’t necessarily write them off although Chicago are worthy favourites. That said, I’m not sure I want to trust Chicago when they have struggled to get over the winning line in recent matches so I’ll sit this one out.
