MLS 2018 – Wednesday 13th June Matches Betting Preview

The final set of matches in MLS before the break for the opening stages of the World Cup take place on Wednesday evening into Thursday morning for those of us in the UK and while the league might be getting ready to settle down for a while, there is one intriguing night left yet.

Most of the teams in action across the course of the night are in the Eastern Conference and there are two of three tasting looking battles there but there are a couple of Western Conference teams looking to end off on a bright note. Sadly there is no TV coverage of these matches in the UK so we are having to stream them all.

Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)

Columbus Crew vs Atlanta United (00.30)

Montreal Impact vs Orlando City (00.30)

New York Red Bulls vs Seattle Sounders (01.00)

Toronto FC vs DC United (01.00)

Colorado Rapids vs Chicago Fire (02.00)

San Jose Earthquakes vs New England Revolution (03.30)

Big Matches

Atlanta United have the chance to steal a march on New York City FC when they head to Columbus Crew but the Crew themselves will go above Patrick Vieira’s former side should they pick up a win in the Eastern Conference clash. It is a big night for the defending champions Toronto FC too. If they are going to get back into the play-off mix their match at home to DC United is simply must win at all costs.

Best of the Rest

Two of the more established sides meet at the Red Bull Arena when New York Red Bulls host the former champions Seattle Sounders while both Colorado Rapids and Chicago Fire will be looking for wins to take into the break with them. The same can be same of Montreal Impact and Orlando City when they meet up in Canada with San Jose Earthquakes and New England Revolution rounding off the evening.

Betting

I wanted to bet on the big match of the night from Ohio but the potential absence of Miguel Almiron soon has me ducking for the hills in that regard so I’m left with one punt for the evening which comes in the match which kicks off at the same time as the Columbus Crew against Atlanta United game.

Goals might have dried up in Montreal Impact matches of late but they are still averaging three goals a game for their season when adding goals for and against. Orlando City blow that total out of the water so I’m expecting goals in Montreal. Ignacio Piatti has been quiet for far too long for the Impact but the real reason I like goals is due to Dom Dwyer’s return. I repeated say he is one of the most important players in MLS and Orlando’s record with and without him highlights that. They are so much more a potent force with him in the side but as we saw on Saturday evening they still leak like a sieve at the back. Nine of the last 10 Orlando games have had three or more goals in them while six of the eight meetings between these two in total have. Those trends can continue here.
