The Major League Soccer weekend began in entertaining style on Friday night and there is every reason to believe we are going to see more of the same when it continues on a relatively busy Saturday evening in the competition.
There are seven matches making up the Saturday card in the division with some exciting looking games among them as well as some important ones. Two of the clashes are on TV in the UK with the usual streams showing the others.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off in brackets)
Montreal Impact v Toronto FC (00.30)
Orlando City SC v Columbus Crew SC (00.30)
Chicago Fire v FC Cincinnati (01.00)
Minnesota United FC v FC Dallas (01.00)
Real Salt Lake v Philadelphia Union (03.00)
Vancouver Whitecaps FC v Sporting Kansas City (03.00)
Portland Timbers v Colorado Rapids (04.00)
Big Matches
The two live matches on the card on Saturday evening could have a big say in the Eastern Conference. The first of them is the Canadian clash between Montreal Impact and Toronto FC where the home side will be looking to regain second spot in the table. A win for Toronto will see them move back into the play-off places. After they are done the Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union will head to Rio Tinto to take on Real Salt Lake looking to extend their lead at the top of proceedings.
Best of the Rest
Portland Timbers are getting a bit of surge going in all competitions and they will be looking for three points when they go up against the Colorado Rapids while there is a good looking Western Conference clash as Minnesota United take on FC Dallas. Chicago Fire will look to finally turn their form around when they host FC Cincinnati while it could be the last chance saloon for both Vancouver Whitecaps and Sporting Kansas City in terms of breaking into the play-offs when they meet up in Canada.
Betting
This looks like a trappy set of fixtures with the sides in better form away to dangerous teams and a couple of teams who I would want to take on facing sides who can’t really be trusted so finding bets among this lot is not the easiest thing in the world. With that in mind, rather than push the boat out I will just take what is there and go with the one bet, an obvious one admittedly but which should be a winning one nevertheless.
That comes from Chicago where the Chicago Fire take on FC Cincinnati and while I accept Chicago are a short price for a reason, I can’t trust them defensively to cover an ever growing handicap but I really like what I’ve seen from the Fire in offensive situations in recent times and feel like there will be goals here. I mentioned last week how FC Cincinnati are leaky at the best of times and we saw that but they can certainly offer something against this Fire defence. I’m expecting the goals to flow here.
