We have two weekends before the break for the Gold Cup in Major League Soccer and the first of those continues with another batch of matches on Saturday night, as both Conferences head closer to the halfway mark.
In all there are nine matches on the schedule on Saturday evening and three of those are live on the TV for those of us over in the UK. There are some real tasty battles on show over the course of the night too.

Big Matches
The first two TV matches come relatively early in the evening and they begin in Canada where the Montreal Impact host Orlando City in an Eastern Conference clash and then the focus moves to the Big Apple where it is a big night of sport not least in the MLS. New York Red Bulls welcome Real Salt Lake to town and then the televised stuff draws to a close with the Western Conference battle between FC Dallas and the former champions Seattle Sounders.
Best of the Rest
It is a big night for the Portland Timbers as just under three months since the season started they finally get to play their first home game of the season. It could barely be any tougher for them though as they take on the Western Conference leaders LAFC. The champions Atlanta United are in action on Saturday too when they host the Chicago Fire while there is a big Eastern Conference clash in Ohio where the Columbus Crew take on New York City FC. Two struggling teams meet when Colorado Rapids play FC Cincinnati and there is a Western Conference battle between the Houston Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City.
Betting
I like three bets over the course of the night. The first one comes from the game between New York Red Bulls and Real Salt Lake where it is the home side that I like the look of. Real Salt Lake don’t tend to travel too well and have lost five of their eight road matches this season, with their two wins coming against both basement boys of Colorado Rapids and FC Cincinnati which isn’t really much of a form guide. New York Red Bulls have been in good form in recent times with five wins in their last seven matches and this looks like an ideal chance for another victory.
Moving later into the evening and I like the chances of DC United and San Jose Earthquakes producing a few goals. DC United go into this match off the back of a 3-3 draw last time out but generally they score a number of goals and feast on weak defences. San Jose have clicked into excellent form in front of goal with six goals in their last two outings. The last two matches between these two have both contained four goals and I fancy this one will include a similar number.
Later in the night I like over three goals in the clash between Portland Timbers and Los Angeles FC. I expect Portland to be a little expansive in this match on their return home and that should suit LAFC nicely. We’ve seen all season that LAFC don’t shut up shop against anyone and I don’t expect that to change here so over 3 should be well within the compass of two of the more attacking sides in the league. There have been five goals in each of the last two meetings between these two while eight of Portland’s last 10 have had three goals or more and LAFC games average over three per game this season. I’ll play the over.
