We have another busy Saturday to enjoy in the MLS campaign, with the sides who are already emerging as leading contenders in action, as well as those who need to buck their ideas up a little bit.
It is still too early to say who will win the competition or top the Conferences but the fledgling tables are beginning to take shape and will continue to do so here. Two of the matches are live on TV for those of us in the UK with the regular streams offering the other games as always.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off in brackets)
New York City FC v Montreal Impact (18.00)
D.C. United v Los Angeles Football Club (20.00)
Toronto FC v Chicago Fire (20.00)
New York Red Bulls v Minnesota United FC (00.00)
Columbus Crew SC v New England Revolution (00.30)
Orlando City SC v Colorado Rapids (00.30)
Philadelphia Union v FC Dallas (00.30)
San Jose Earthquakes v Portland Timbers (01.00)
Seattle Sounders FC v Real Salt Lake (03.00)
Big Matches
The two live matches for us to enjoy on TV for those of us in the UK includes the big one at Audi Field as arguably the two best teams in MLS so far meet when DC United host Los Angeles FC. The other game sees the Seattle Sounders hosting their Western Conference rivals Real Salt Lake in what should be another decent enough contest deep into the early hours of the morning.
Best of the Rest
The only 100% record left in MLS this term belongs to Toronto FC and they put it on the line when they host Chicago Fire. The night begins with the only winless side in the Eastern Conference in New York City taking on the Montreal Impact while two teams who will be looking to mount a title challenge meet in the Big Apple when New York Red Bulls take on Minnesota United. Columbus Crew host New England Revolution and there is also another Western Conference battle as San Jose Earthquakes take on the Portland Timbers.

Betting
Two for me in America on Saturday evening. I’m off to Audi Field for the overs once again as the two best teams in MLS meet as DC United battle it out with Los Angeles FC. That means we have Wayne Rooney, Luciano Acosta and Lucas Rodriguez going up against Diego Rossi, Carlos Vela and Adama Diomande so we should be set for quite some attacking game here. I get there is a sense that both teams could respect each other but since Wayne Rooney turned up I’ve not seen DC United not take the game to anyone at home. LAFC will go forward even if it is only on the counter so over 3 goals looks the way forward to me.
Later in the night I like Seattle Sounders. I won’t lie and say their draw in Vancouver last week isn’t a concern but those Cascadia Cup matches have a habit of delivering the weirdest results. Prior to that, the Sounders looked fantastic, scoring goals for fun and not conceding too many. They are generally a very good side at the Link too. The concern for Real Salt Lake is the amount of goals they are conceding. They have lost their last three matches and shipped 11 in the process so facing Nico Lodeiro, Raul Ruidiaz and co is not what they need. The home side can cover 1.25 goals here.
