MLS 2019 – Sunday 2nd June Matches Betting Preview

Two matches round off the penultimate weekend before the mid-season break in the Major League Soccer campaign and both are played late on Sunday night into the early hours of Monday morning for us here in the UK.

It is night where the Western Conference hosts teams in the East with the second of the two matches being live on TV, although you’ll need to be an early riser or an insomniac in order to be around for it. We’ll begin with the other match though.

Minnesota United vs Philadelphia Union (21.00)

The first match of the evening sees two teams who are maybe surprisingly in the play-off places in their respective Conferences as Minnesota United play host to the Philadelphia Union in a game both teams will be eager to win.

Such has been the start to the campaign for the Union, a win here will take them top of the Eastern Conference and there can be no greater incentive than that. Minnesota will put six points between themselves and the play-off chasing pack should they come out on top here so there is a fair amount at stake in the match up.

I like Minnesota to get a result here. They are undefeated in their new stadium and they take on a Philadelphia Union side who come into the game having failed to win any of their last three, all of which were on their own patch, and whose record against Western Conference sides this season sits at a paltry 1-3-3 from seven matches with the win needing a crazy late turnaround to defeat FC Dallas. The goals have dried up for Minny recently but they are improving defensively and so I’ll back them to take something from this which will hopefully be a win.

Los Angeles Galaxy vs New England Revolution (03.30)

The second match of the night comes from California where two big name franchises collide as Los Angeles Galaxy host their former coach Bruce Arena and his new New England Revolution outfit in what could be a high scoring match if history is anything to go by.

These two sides haven’t played a regular season match that hasn’t had four goals in it since 2012 so there is every chance the keepers are going to be worked hard in this contest. I would normally take the over but the Revolution are in a rebuilding stage and Galaxy aren’t the free flowing side they can be with a couple of key injuries. If the goal line was 3 I’d have been tempted but it is higher than that so I’ll sit this one out.
