Big Matches
The televised stuff on this side of the pond begins with the opening match of the night as Orlando City look to move into second place in the Eastern Conference for a few hours at least when they host a New York Red Bulls side who are beginning to turn the corner again after sacking off their manager last month. The focus then turns to Washington as two struggling sides who sit outside the postseason spots in the East meet when DC United take on the 2018 champions Atlanta United. The latest chapter of the Inter Miami story in the MLS comes next. David Beckham’s side host New York City FC in another Eastern Conference clash before the attention moves to the Western Conference and the latest Cascadia Cup clash as the champions Seattle Sounders host the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Best of the Rest
Two matches really stand out among those that are not being televised on this side of the pond. They are the Eastern Conference battle between Toronto FC and Philadelphia Union, two of the best in that division, and the leaders of the East, Columbus Crew, heading to Texas to take on an FC Dallas side who are in decent nick. Two sides who haven’t had the recent form they would have liked meet when Houston Dynamo host Sporting Kansas City while there is another Cali-Classico as the San Jose Earthquakes take on the Los Angeles Galaxy in the final match of the night.
Betting
I’ll attack a couple of goal lines over the course of the night with the first one being in the first game of the evening when Orlando City host New York Red Bulls in what should be an entertaining contest. Orlando City have been very offense minded this season and have been good to watch as a result but it is the vulnerability about them that makes their games so appealing. New York Red Bulls were in a right slump about a month ago but they look like they have clicked again and go into this one off the back of a pair of 4-1 victories. Both these teams will suddenly be feeling very confident about their chances and that should lead to both believing they can win. That makes the over 2.75 goal line bet look appealing.
From the first match of the night we then go to the final one where the San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy collide in another contest I expect to be high scoring. The last match between these two was actually 0-0 but that is very much the anomaly rather than the trend when these two teams meet. They are usually high scoring matches and with the way both teams are leaking goals right now I don’t see any reason at all why this one won’t get back to the usual trend. These two sit as the bottom two in the Western Conference so it is a match both need to win and I would imagine will think they can win. There is no point in sitting back but these two don’t do that anyway so I’m happy to be on over 3 here.
