Big Matches
The televised action begins fairly early on Saturday evening when the Los Angeles FC host the San Jose Earthquakes in a match both teams have to win if they are going to launch a late push for the playoffs. When they are done all eyes will be on New England Revolution as they look to sew up the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. They play host to a Chicago Fire side who should be there for the taking. The other televised match comes from Rio Tinto where Real Salt Lake look to preserve their place in the Western Conference playoffs when they host high flying Colorado Rapids.
Best of the Rest
The Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders will look to extend their lead at the top of that particular table when they head over to take on the Houston Dynamo. The action actually begins early in the evening when CF Montreal look to keep the chasing pack at bay in the Eastern Conference when they host the current Supporters’ Shield holders Philadelphia Union. DC United are another team looking to maintain their place in the playoffs. They host second placed Nashville SC in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta United are currently on the outside of the top seven looking in over in the East but they can better their position if they can win at Toronto FC while Minnesota United head to Austin FC needing to win to stay in the top seven themselves.
Betting
This should be a competitive evening of football but it isn’t one I want to get too involved in with latest the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers only taking place on Thursday evening which makes getting official team news a little harder than usual. There will be some internationals who play here and some who don’t so with a midweek set of action to come there is no need to take any risks here. I will play one bet though in a key Eastern Conference clash.
That comes in the one between DC United and Nashville SC where I’m a little surprised that the goal line for this one is only 2.25 goals. I say that largely because there aren’t many low scoring DC United matches. Admittedly two of the last three Nashville SC matches have ended 0-0 but four of their last seven have had over 2.5 goals in them and actually their attacking unit is heavily underrated. DC have shipped an alarming 41 goals this season so you can score on them and although Nashville have the best defensive record in the Eastern Conference, DC score against most teams. DC can’t afford to lose this and with home advantage they will surely take the game to Nashville which should make for a decent contest. The reverse fixture ended 5-2 and while I don’t see a repeat score here, I do think we’ll get enough goals for a 2.25 line to be covered.
