The third round of matches in the new Major League Soccer season begins on Saturday evening when a bunch of games take place across the whole of America as the campaign shows signs of taking shape.
There are 10 matches in total on Saturday evening and into Sunday morning on this side of the pond and we are fortunate enough to have five of them on the TV. As always though the other five are all available on the bookmaker streams too.

Big Matches
The TV action begins with the first match of the night which sees the New York Red Bulls going in search of their first points of the season when they play host to Chicago Fire. The second and third matches overlap as a so far entertaining Montreal Impact team host the champions Columbus Crew while the Houston Dynamo welcome Los Angeles FC to Texas. In the early hours of Sunday morning the Philadelphia Union will be looking to bounce back from defeat last week when they host New York City FC while the final game of the night sees the San Jose Earthquakes taking on DC United.
Best of the Rest
There is a mixed bag of matches away from the UK TV stations with two in the East and three in the West. They begin in the West where Real Salt Lake host Sporting Kansas City before the move to the East for New England Revolution against Atlanta United and Orlando City hosting FC Cincinnati. The other Western games sees FC Dallas meeting Portland Timbers and then Minnesota United going in search of their first points of the campaign when they host the newcomers Austin FC.
Betting
I’ll take the one bet on Saturday evening as we continue to work out how these sides will go this season and assess any change in styles since the last campaign. The bet I like comes from down in Florida where I expect Orlando City to pick up a relatively routine victory against an FC Cincinnati side who were opened up at will by New York City FC last week and given an almighty beating, a potentially damaging one for morale too.
FC Cincinnati lost that game 5-0 and after conceding a couple of goals in their opening match of the season there is clearly an early issue defensively. Orlando City haven’t won yet this term but that is only because they have not converted the chances they have created over that time. You would think as they get up to speed those chances will find the back of the net and if one goes in here plenty more could follow. Orlando won this fixture 5-1 last term and I fancy another comfortable home win here.
