The second weekend of action in the MLS season begins on Friday evening when we have one match on the card ahead of the bulk of the matches taking place on Saturday evening and going into Sunday. That sees Sporting Kansas City hosting Orlando City in a cross-Conference clash.
These two sides both avoided defeat in the opening weekend of the campaign and if they can pick up a victory here they will be able to enjoy sitting back and watching what happens to the rest over the course of the next couple of days.

Sporting Kansas City
Sporting Kansas City began the season with a fine 2-1 win on the road against the New York Red Bulls which will have given them plenty of confidence to take forward with them both into this match and the season as a whole. It would also have gone some way to putting the way last season ended behind them when they ran into a rampant Minnesota United who were just too good for them in the postseason.
Sporting Kansas City have a few issues in defence at the minute and it will be worth keeping an eye on those in the weeks and months to come. With Tim Melia injured they have a youngster in goal and a couple of the stalwarts we are used to seeing in their defence are also not around at the minute so you sense there could be a vulnerability about SKC. The one thing they don’t lack for though is forward options so they should be entertaining to watch.

Orlando City
It wasn’t a bad start to the season for Orlando City either. They drew 0-0 with rivals Atlanta United, which on a normal week they might have been disappointed with but Atlanta had a bit of a competitive edge on them so it wasn’t the worst result ever. Orlando were still feeling the fallout of that unbelievable play-off match last season where suspensions carried over and left them a little light in the forward areas, particularly with Daryl Dike now doing his thing in England.
They did look good at the back though Orlando, even allowing for the fact that they were without Roger Janssen, who misses out once again here. You get the feeling that Orlando won’t be happy with just making the play-offs this season. Now it is about having a massive impact on them and if that is going to happen they just need to find some consistency in the attacking areas of the game. If they do that they should be very good to watch and should be successful.
Betting
Both these teams are missing key defensive personnel so I think there is going to be an openness to this match which will make it well worth watching and as a result of that I think the over 2.75 goal line is one to be attacked. We saw New York Red Bulls have a lot of joy down the flanks and in behind this SKC defence last week and that is generally where the strength of the Orlando City attack lies at the minute with Nani in those areas.
I expect Sporting Kansas City to start with a stronger attacking unit than they did in the Big Apple last week and as a result of that they should be able to get on the front foot and get the ball into the sort of dangerous areas we are used to seeing them doing at home. There is a vulnerability about both these teams at the minute which should make for an entertaining game and as such I fancy seeing at least three goals here.
