Big Matches
The televised action begins with the opening match as Los Angeles FC look to extend their lead at the top of the Western Conference when they go up against San Jose Earthquakes. When that is done we will see New York Red Bulls going in search of a rare home win when they play host to DC United who just can’t seem to find any consistency whatsoever this term. The final televised match of the night sees the bottom two in the Western Conference meeting when Sporting Kansas City welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps to Children’s Mercy Park.
Best of the Rest
The pick of the matches on Saturday evening is the one at Gillette Stadium where the Supporters’ Shield holders New England Revolution host the current leaders of the Eastern Conference in Philadelphia Union. The champions New York City FC are in action as well on Saturday evening when they head to Minnesota United. Two former MLS Cup winners meet at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium where Atlanta United welcome Columbus Crew to town. Real Sale Lake have the chance to move into second place in the Western Conference when they host Houston Dynamo while Colorado Rapids will be looking to use home advantage when they welcome Nashville SC. Orlando City host FC Dallas in another appealing match.
Betting
Colorado Rapids have had a slower start to the season than they would have liked but they remain a formidable force at home and I think they are worth taking when they welcome Nashville SC. The first thing to note for this match is that Nashville were in US Open Cup duty in midweek whereas the Rapids were watching on with their feet up and Colorado isn’t the sort of place you want to go to when you have a few heavy legs in the camp.
The other reason why I like the Rapids here is that Nashville SC are without a couple of attacking talents in Leal and Bunbury and while that might not impact Nashville in terms of their starting XI, it will certainly impact their options off the bench. Colorado have no such issues and are unbeaten at home this season with five wins and two draws. They have only conceded one goal in front of their own fans as well so this feels like a long night for the men from Tennessee. I’ll take the Rapids here.
