Big Matches

The standout match of the Saturday evening card is the one which pits the current top two in the Supporters’ Shield race going at it when FC Cincinnati look to rebound from a dismal defeat to DC United last week when they host a New England Revolution side who are going from strength to strength. St Louis City returned to the top of the Western Conference last week and they welcome bottom of that table Colorado Rapids to City Park on Saturday evening. The champions Los Angeles FC are also on show on Saturday. They head to Texas to take on FC Dallas.

Best of the Rest

Nashville SC have come into two defeats just at the time when they would have been hoping to push on and chase down FC Cincinnati so they will be looking to get back on track when they host DC United who will be hoping to show that after comfortably seeing off the leaders last week they have something to offer the remainder of the campaign. Columbus Crew are the form team in MLS at the minute and they will look to keep up their good recent run when they host the New York Red Bulls while life without Bob Bradley begins for Toronto FC with a home match against Real Salt Lake. Inter Miami are counting down the days until Lionel Messi arrives in their ranks and while they wait they play to an Austin FC who are showing signs of clicking into gear after an inconsistent start to the season.

Betting

I like a couple of bets over the course of the evening with the first of those coming from GEODIS Stadium where Nashville SC host DC United in a match where goals will surely flow. Nashville will be smarting from losing their last two matches but they have won their last five at home and scored 14 goals in the process so they will be delighted to be back on home soil. They now face a DC United side who are not afraid to leave themselves a little exposed in the search of goals and the result of that is their last seven matches having over 2.5 goals. All five of those recent Nashville wins have had over 2.5 goals with them covering a 2.5 line in four of the five. I like the over in this one with the attacking talents on show.

The other bet I like comes from Children’s Mercy Park where Sporting Kansas City host the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Western Conference. On Canada Day, the Whitecaps will be looking to bring some joy to their fans and build on their win over Los Angeles FC last week. They go up against a Kansas City who have lost their last two at home and will be looking to get back on the horse. Kansas City matches can be quite wild but nothing like as wild card Vancouver ones. In the last nine matches involving Vancouver in MLS there has been a 6-2, a pair of 3-2s and a couple of 3-1s so they are certainly no strangers to high scoring matches. With Vancouver always looking to be on the front foot and Kansas City having more depth to their attacking roster with players now back I think over 2.75 goals is a good bet here.
