Big Matches

FC Cincinnati are already the holders of the Supporters’ Shield and they have made their way to the summit of the competition once again and will look to stay there when they make the trip to take on Charlotte FC, who downed the champions Columbus Crew last week. Over in the Western Conference it is Minnesota United who are setting the early pace and they face a tricky trip to Subaru Park to take on the Philadelphia Union in the first game of the day. The other headline matches come towards the end of the night where LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders, household MLS names, go at it while we have the first Cascadia Cup clash of the season when the Vancouver Whitecaps host the Portland Timbers.

Best of the Rest

Whenever Inter Miami play these days it is always a huge event and that isn’t likely to be any different when they go up against New York City FC, although the excitement might be tempered with Lionel Messi being a doubt for the contest. The champions Columbus Crew will look to bounce back from a surprise defeat in Charlotte last week when they go on the road again to take on Nashville SC while two sides who will be expecting to be competitive in the Eastern Conference clash in Florida when Orlando City SC host New York Red Bulls. We also have a Texas dust up to look forward to as Austin FC go in search of their first win of the season against an FC Dallas outfit who haven’t won since their opening match.

Betting

I’ll ease my way back into things after the international break and go with just the one bet although there is almost certainly another one to follow on Sunday anyway. With regards to Saturday though, I really like the idea of there being goals in the match between DC United and CF Montreal, two sides who have begun the season a lot stronger than many would have forecast them to do under their new permanent head coaches, and where the goal line looks too low at 2.75 to me.

The last time we saw CF Montreal was in that crazy game in Chicago a couple of weeks ago when they lost at the death with that crazy long range effort that caught the wind and embarrassed their keeper. That game was 4-3 and prior to that they won 3-2 in Miami. DC United are no strangers to goals either with four of their five matches so far containing four goals. They have scored eight, with Christian Benteke already looking strong, but they have conceded the same number. Montreal should be fresh after not playing last week and DC will be eager to get another win back on home soil. These two play an attractive brand which involves getting men forward and this just screams goals to me.
