The latest round of matches in the MLS 2025 season concludes with a double header on Sunday which culminates in the Sunday Night Soccer as four teams in the Western Conference look to build on their current standings in the table.
Both matches will be shown via the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV with a complete build-up of the second game. Bookmaker live streams will show all of the action too so there is no need to mix any of it if you have a bet.
St Louis City SC vs Austin FC (19.15)
The opening match of the day on Sunday comes from CityPark where St Louis City SC will look to bounce back from their first defeat of the campaign last week when they host an Austin FC side who will be hoping for successive victories here.
After a struggling start to their season, Austin FC were able to create decent chances against San Diego last week and we saw why they spent so much on Brandon Vazquez to be the man to transform their attack. Another win here would move the Verde up to second in the table which would represent serious progress. St Louis will be a tough nut to crack though. They have only conceded one goal all season and that was a scrappy affair for Philadelphia last weekend. The big problem that St Louis have is that they look clunky in attack, which is largely in keeping with the coaching career of Olof Mellberg so far. I don’t think anyone would be surprised with a low scoring match here but these Sunday daytime games can naturally just get a little wacky and the line is only 2.5 goals which is quite low by MLS standards. If someone was desperate for a bet I’d advise that but I’m happy to leave this one alone.

Portland Timbers vs Houston Dynamo (00.00)
The Sunday Night Soccer this week comes from Providence Park where the Portland Timbers will look to build on that fine win over the Colorado Rapids last week when they host a winless so far Houston Dynamo side.
There were fears over Portland after the way last term ended and the way this one began but to be fair to them they have built their way into the season. That was probably always going to be the case because they lost Evander so close to the beginning of the campaign and his replacement David da Costa arrived pretty much on the eve of the 2025 season but the latter looks like he has acclimatised to his surroundings and is beginning to show his class and a key tactical tweak appears to have the Timbers on the right footing. Houston are a bit behind the Timbers. They lost some big players in the close season, not least arguably the best central midfield duo in the competition and they are still looking for the best balance to that area of the pitch, although at the same time they are getting nothing at all from the focal point of their attack in Ezequiel Ponce and if that doesn’t change soon then for all they are capable of controlling the ball and the pace of the game, the Dynamo are going to struggle for results. I would imagine Ben Olsen will sort it out soon for the Dynamo, especially if reports that a Czech international number 10 to link the play between the midfield and Ponce coming in is true but for now Portland look a leg up in their development into the campaign and in front of a healthy home crowd they should be taken to come out on top here.
