The two matches sees the draw for the Eastern Conference play-offs completed and by the end of the night we will know which two teams will travel to take on Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC respectively in the first round.

New England Revolution vs Montreal Impact (23.30)
The opening match of the postseason sees Bruce Arena looking for a first play-off win as the coach of the New England Revolution when he takes on Thierry Henry who has navigated his Montreal Impact side into the knockout competition in his first season in charge of the club.
This feels like a tough match to call. Neither of these teams had any consistency during the regular season which is why they couldn’t finish in the top six which would have guaranteed their progress to the main draw. It might be significant that New England have won three of the four meetings between these two this season but Montreal showed right back when life was normal that they can handle knockout football in the North American Champions League. I wouldn’t be surprised if this one goes to extra time but either way I don’t fancy betting on this one.

Nashville SC vs Inter Miami (02.00)
There will be a debutant team in the main draw of the MLS play-offs this season but we won’t know which one it is until the two sides battle it out as Nashville SC host their fellow newcomers to the league in Inter Miami.
This is an interesting match up. Inter Miami have all the star names but Nashville SC have a style, which while not exactly being entertaining to watch, is very effective and it was they who finished higher in the regular season which means that they host this clash. That might be significant as well because Nashville have had a pretty good home record this season and go into the match off the back of just one defeat in seven matches whereas Inter Miami have been terrible away from home this term and their form hasn’t been as good.
I’m a little surprised that we can get sufficient draw cover on the Nashville side here. I think given the size of the prize and the inexperience of the two teams that we do require draw cover here but if there is a winner inside the 90 minutes I do fancy it to be the more solid and reliable looking Nashville outfit. Nashville have only lost two at home all season. Miami have only won two away so I’ll go with the home side here.
