NatWest T20 Blast – Thursday 7th July Matches Betting Preview

The NatWest T20 Blast continues with two more matches on Thursday night as the South Group starts to reach a crescendo. With the Women’s T20 getting the TV treatment neither of these matches are on TV but the odds have been priced up anyway.

Somerset vs Kent

These two met on the opening night of the season when Kent eased to a pretty high run chase but since then it has been a real struggle for both sides. Kent have won just two more matches out of the eight they have played while Somerset have only won three of the eight games since that defeat.

Somerset have only won one of their last four matches in this competition and that was only against Hampshire who have been wretched in this tournament and were even worse than that in that particularly match and you wonder what good a bit of a rattling by Pakistan earlier this week will have done for their morale.

Kent were well beaten in their last match against Essex but they did turn Sussex over in the one before that although whether the schedule has gone against them after a pretty tough four day Championship match remains to be seen.

Kent aren’t at full strength but I like their chances here. They have enough in their bowling attack to really challenge Somerset. David Griffiths is one of the best bowlers in county cricket at the death and Kagiso Rabada has already shown his class and with Somerset having no Chris Gayle anymore there isn’t a lot to fear. At odds against I’ll take the visitors here.

Glamorgan vs Sussex

With Gloucestershire blazing a trail away from the rest of this group these two sides might well be reduced to playing for quarter final places and in order to boost their chances of a spot in the last eight this is a match they could both do with winning.

Glamorgan have been in excellent form in all one day cricket this season but they have lost Dale Steyn to the Caribbean Premier League from now on. Shaun Tait is a worthy replacement and has been here before so will know what it is all about but I wonder if he’ll need a game or two to get up to speed.

Sussex are back at full strength with Chris Jordan and Tymal Mills back in their squad and when those two have been in their side they have been very competitive as you would expect and I fancy they will go well here but these look like two evenly matched sides and the prices reflect that so I’ll sit this game out.
