The second match in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs comes from the NFC and it sees the number two seeded Los Angeles Rams hosting the Dallas Cowboys for the right to compete for the NFC Championship next weekend.
The Rams have been one of the best sides in the league this season and will be expected to come through this match but the Cowboys progressed against seasoned campaigners in the Seattle Seahawks last week and may well play without fear here.
Los Angeles Rams
It became apparent pretty early in the season that the Los Angeles Rams were going to be in the playoffs so they have had plenty of time to prepare for the stresses and strains that playoff football brings. Their balanced offense saw them cruise to the NFC West title but that doesn’t count for much now, they must perform on the night from here on in.
When the Rams are functioning fully, they can hurt teams in the air and on the ground and what makes them a really tough nut to crack is their defensive front which pressurises quarterbacks, who are already under a fair amount of scrutiny from the need to keep up in the point scoring department. This is an inexperienced franchise at this stage of a season though and that could be significant.
Dallas Cowboys
Generally December and January are not the best months for the Dallas Cowboys but there could just be one or two signs that things are changing on that front here. They held their nerve when under pressure towards the end of the regular season and they came through a very tough encounter with the Seattle Seahawks last week.
You wouldn’t say that the Cowboys have stood out in any department this season but they don’t make a lot of mistakes and sometimes efficiency can be the best trait of any side. You would think they are going to need to be a little more explosive when they have the ball in this match if they are to come through it though.

Betting
I fancy points in the first match of the night but I don’t see so many in this second match. If Dallas are to come out on top in this one then surely it has to be done with the running ability of Ezekiel Elliott and feeding him and in turn keeping the Rams’ offense off the field represents their best hope.
If Elliott doesn’t have a good game then I don’t see any hope for Dallas so there is a chance of a blowout in this contest, and to be fair the Cowboys’ awful road record in the playoffs suggest there is a possibility of that anyway. Whoever wins and how they do it, I don’t think we are going to see the point total go as high as 49.5. I’ll play the under.
