NFL 2018 Playoffs – Seattle Seahawks @ Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

The second match of what looks like a competitive double header in the NFL playoffs on Saturday evening sees the NFC East winners Dallas Cowboys hosting the former champions Seattle Seahawks at the AT&T Stadium.

Both these teams will be eager to be involved next week and look quite evenly matched so we should be in for something of an intriguing contest, where the nerve and the composure of both outfits will be tested.

Dallas Cowboys

Of all eight division winners over the regular season I think it is fair to say that the least convincing of them were the Dallas Cowboys. For the first half of the campaign they looked very ordinary indeed and at one point there was plenty of talk of Jason Garrett being relieved and many questions over Dak Prescott.

All of that came to a close when they acquired Amari Cooper in the trade week. He sorted out the area that the offense lacked and immediately things turned around for the Cowboys. Injuries through their defence never helped at any point of the season and they remain inconsistent but they are at home here which is often a deciding trait of any tight postseason match.

Seattle Seahawks

From a very early stage in the campaign, the Seattle Seahawks knew they were playing for a wildcard spot and a road trip in the playoffs due to the incredible form of the Los Angeles Rams. To their credit they got their heads down and powered into the next best position in the NFC and now they have to prove their credentials away from home.

In Russell Wilson, the Seahawks have a quarterback who can keep plays alive but in truth, if the Seahawks are going to win this match then they are going to do it by pounding the ground and having their defence stand up in the key moments. Seattle are used to being in tight contests and that might be something that stands them in good stead towards the end of this encounter.

Betting

I like the playoff pedigree of the Seattle Seahawks in this match I have to say. They won the regular season meeting between the two teams and I think their defence as well as their ability to retain and protect the ball are all factors that can lead them over the line and continue their undefeated record at this stage of the campaign under Pete Carroll.

Dallas Cowboys never seem to be the same side when the postseason comes around and Dak Prescott will be under huge pressure to deliver the goods and finally lead the Cowboys deeper into the playoffs. I think he’s up against it here though and with that in mind I’m content to take the Seahawks here.
